    Position Title:

    Senior Program Manager for Interpreter Development Programs

    Organization:

    NTID Access Services

    Job Responsibilities:

    + Lead strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of both programs to ensure alignment with departmental goals and participant outcomes.

    + Review, propose, and maintain improvements to the DAS Randleman Program and Apprenticeship Program to support future sustainability and success.

    + Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth through mentoring, individualized learning plans, curriculum development and support group advisement.

    + Analyze program trends and outcomes, presenting data-driven insights to inform decision-making and development priorities.

    + Collaborate across university departments and with external professional partners and organizations to support emerging professionals in the interpreting field.

    + Ensure operational excellence across all program functions, including staffing, resource allocation, and outreach.

    + Oversee all operations, functions and activities of the programs.

    + Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute strategic plans for school-to-work interpreter development programs, including staffing, curriculum, resource management, and outreach. Ongoing research into the educational and technology needs and goals of developing interpreters.

    + Staff Supervision: Manage two full-time employees to support the coordination of the programs. Includes assuming accountability for decisions made by staff, managing employee performance, development, hiring, and personnel changes, and allocation of work.

    + Participant Development & Mentorship: Design and implement interpreter development through focused trainings & curriculum, individualized learning plans, fostering professional growth, and career advancement; Guide and motivate team members and participants to perform at their highest level.

    + Program Oversight & Resource Management: Possess an understanding of the operational and financial goals of each program, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to identify and, when needed, secure financial sponsorships or grants that align with these goals. Oversee program budget and financial operations, travel funds, hospitality, honorariums, and instructional and office supplies. Propose suggestions for necessary resources to support program innovation and resource allocation to ensure sustainability.

    + Collaboration & Outreach: Closely collaborate with DAS managers to support participant growth and alignment with department goals and institutional mission. Build and maintain partnerships with internal departments, external organizations, and national networks to support program goals. Manage national engagement and visibility.

    + Assessment and Data-Informed Decision Making: Measure and monitor program progress and activities, establishing a system for ongoing assessment of offerings and curriculum effectiveness. Guide continuous improvement, identifying areas for improvement or adjustment based on feedback and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement necessary changes or updates. Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in related field

    + Certified Interpreter (National RID Certification) and DAS Interpreter Level 3 OR Certified Deaf Interpreter (National RID/NAD Certification)

    + A minimum of five (5) years of full-time professional experience in fostering the educational and professional development of interpreters, specifically in the provision of access service delivery.

    + An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

    + Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Master’s degree

     

    Grant writing experience desired

    The Department of Access Services (DAS) provides the RIT community with interpreting, notetaking, and real-time captioning services. Our goal is to provide the highest possible quality of access to communication.

     

    Access Services serves more than 1,000 deaf and hard-of-hearing RIT students to register and fully participate in roughly 23,000 credit hours annually in more than 200 highly competitive academic programs. These services also facilitate communication among Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing students in various extracurricular activities, including student clubs, entertainment, sports events, and other RIT programs and services.

    Job Summary:

    The Department of Access Services (DAS) at RIT/NTID seeks a candidate to join the largest staff of interpreters working in postsecondary education. RIT/NTID is a dynamic, language-rich environment of 1,300 deaf students, staff and faculty on a campus of 18,000 students.

     

    The Sr. Program Manager is responsible for overseeing two, school-to-work interpreter development programs: the DAS Apprenticeship Program, and the Randleman Program, including oversight of a summer training component with national outreach.
