    OB/GYN Site Director

     

    As the OB/GYN Site Director, you will collaborate closely with the University of Minnesota, CentraCare, and other stakeholders to oversee the educational program’s rural opportunities in CentraCare learning environments. You'll manage the clinical experience, ensuring compliance with ACGME standards, supporting preceptor faculty recruitment and retention, as well as overseeing resident education and evaluation. You will support efforts to develop rural rotations into a future state full track, with the potential that leadership role develops into Associate Program Director or similar position in a future state. Additionally, you'll serve as the primary liaison between CentraCare GME leadership and the OB/GYN programs (both the University residency program and the CentraCare clinical section), promoting patient safety and patient-centered care principles throughout. Patients of all ethnicities and orientations are served.

     

    Core Functions

     

    + In partnership with CentraCare and University GME leadership, ensure compliance with ACGME and institutional standards, policies, and procedures for residency program management in relation to these rotations, laying the foundation of a future track.

    + Assist in strategic and operational planning for development of a formal residency track.

    + Maintain fiscal accountability of the University of Minnesota/CentraCare OB/GYN Rural Focus.

    + Serve as the primary liaison between CentraCare GME leadership and the CentraCare OB/GYN GME team.

    + Support University program director with any needed data and committee involvement.

    + Submit accurate and complete information required and requested by the program director.

    + Attend and serve when appropriate as nonvoting member (unless elected as voting member) to the Graduate Medical Education Committee of the University of Minnesota.

    + Serve on the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) if requested by the program director.

    + Participate in the OB/GYN Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) if requested by the program director.

    + Support curriculum development and implementation as requested by the program director

     

    Curriculum

     

    Teaching

     

    + Contribute to the education of residents and other learners through lectures, workshops, simulation and/or other didactic activities.

    + Contribute to clinical services and participate in precepting activities for residents and other learners.

     

    Recruitment

     

    + Participate in the recruitment of residents from the University of Minnesota OB/GYN residency and other potential programs to engage in rotations in CentraCare learning environments.

     

    Assessment

     

    + Manage resident evaluation processes as appropriate for rotational experiences.

     

    Resident Support

     

    + Support fair disciplinary procedures.

    + Provide a learning and working environment in which trainees have the opportunity to raise concerns and provide feedback in a confidential manner as appropriate, without fear of intimidation or retaliation.

     

    Faculty Development

     

    + Support CentraCare faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation as indicated for program evolution and growth.

     

    Professional Development

     

    + Gain proficiency in ACGME program requirements.

    + Attend at least one locally or nationally offered professional development opportunity annually, including but not limited to:

    + Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology & Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics

    + Education Development Workshop hosted annually by the UMN Medical School

    + Respond to faculty surveys from the University of Minnesota and external agencies (i.e. ACGME).

    + Address systemic biases in education and healthcare delivery.

    + Foster community relationships, maintaining educational liaison relationships with the medical staff, community agencies, and teaching sites.

    + Perform other duties as assigned by the program director or CentraCare GME leadership.

     

    Support for the Role Will Include

     

    + Supervision from CentraCare GME leadership and University of Minnesota Program Director.

    + Program coordinator at CentraCare with dedicated FTE to this track.

    + Education Coordinator, Scheduler, Program Assistants.

    + CentraCare Future Core Faculty in OB/GYN.

     

    Measurement of Program Success Will Include

     

    + Recruitment of diverse and capable trainees.

    + Results of trainee and faculty surveys.

    + Successful development of full rural track.

    + Positive results from review by Program Evaluation Committee.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education

    + Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathy, or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery Degree – Upon hire.

    Experience

    + Minimum of 3 years of full-time professional activity in obstetrics/gynecology.

    + Preferred teaching experience in an ACGME-accredited obstetrics/gynecology residency program, or preferred fellowship training in Faculty Development.

     

    Licenses and Certifications

     

    + Board certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology – Required upon hire.

    + Eligible for licensure in Minnesota – Required upon hire.

    + Advanced Cardiac Life Support in Obstetrics – Required upon hire or within first 6 months.

    + Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification – Required upon hire or within first 6 months.

     

    Driver License

     

    + A valid Minnesota Class D driver’s license – Required.

    Additional Qualifications

    + Required to be an active member of the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology – Upon hire or within first 6 months.

    + Required to be eligible for an appointment in good standing to the Medical Staff of St. Cloud Hospital and/or Rice Memorial Hospital – Upon hire.

    + Demonstrated rural health practice knowledge-base and commitment – Upon hire.

    + Willingness to support and promote the CentraCare campus’ unique academic mission and its rural and inclusive commitment – Upon hire.
