    **The Library and Engagement Coordinator (Temporary)** will play a key role in supporting the Q Center’s Marsha P. Johnson Memorial Library & Lounge, coordinating engagement efforts across the center, and leading, planning, and implementation of the QTBIPOC Winter Celebration.

     

    This temporary role is ideal for someone with experience in community engagement, event coordination, and/or library or resource management who is passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities on campus.

     

    The position will begin as soon as possible and continue through the last day of Winter Quarter, University of Washington Academic Calendar.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Program & Event Coordination (40%)

    + Plan and implement the QTBIPOC Winter Celebration, including coordination of logistics, vendors, communications, and partnerships.

    + Support additional center events and initiatives as assigned, including tabling, outreach, and community engagement.

    + Coordinate event promotion through social media, newsletters, and campus outreach to ensure visibility and participation.

    + Serve as a point of contact for event collaborators and community partners.

    + Track engagement and participation for post-event evaluation.

    Library Services (40%)

    + Manage and curate resources in the Marsha P. Johnson Memorial Library & Lounge, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.

    + Oversee checkout and return processes for borrowed materials.

    + Maintain accurate catalog records and support patrons in locating LGBTQ+ and intersectional resources.

    + Collaborate with UW Libraries and Q Center staff to develop displays and resource lists highlighting underrepresented voices and topics.

    General Administrative Support (20%)

    + Provide front desk coverage and community support as needed.

    + Support marketing and communication efforts in coordination with the Student Engagement Team.

    + Participate in outreach or tabling events during the appointment period.

    + Collaborate with other Q Center staff to ensure seamless program operations.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    + High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience coordinating LGTBQ+ programs, events, and/or services.

    + Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Experience in a university, nonprofit, or community-based organization.

    + Familiarity with library cataloging systems or resource organization.

    + Comfort working in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

    The Q Center has been serving LGBTQ+ students, staff, and faculty for over 20 years at the University of Washington. We are located on the Seattle campus inside the Husky Union Building. We offer programming, resources, and support to meet the evolving social, emotional, and wellness needs of our community members. We envision a community guided by principles of justice, compassion, respect, and liberation, and we work to model those principles in our work every day.

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $22.28 hourly
