    Job Summary:

    Trained minister or lay minister responsible for providing spiritual care to our primary customers, partners, and team members. Participates as a member of the team in evaluating spiritual needs of students, faculty, and staff, and providing appropriate interventions to meet such needs. Fosters a sense of mission that enhances a culture of Trust, an experience of Belonging, and a future of Hope within the University. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

    You Will Be Responsible For:

    Demonstrates behaviors at Adventist University of Health Sciences in harmony with the Four Words Nurture, Excellence, Spirituality, and Stewardship.

     

    + Assess spiritual needs of students and provide appropriate interventions with consideration to growth development needs and age group.

    + Receive referrals from all members of the University team, and follow up on these referrals with 24 hours.

    + Develops a pastoral care plan for students by identifying objectives, interventions, and desired outcomes.

    + Available for on-call duty (nights, weekends, holidays) as scheduled by the department director.

    + Educates staff on the role and function of the chaplain.

    + Facilitates community relationships for the University.

    + Demonstrates knowledge of the levels of growth, development, and skills for students.

    + Organizes and leads mission trips and community outreach projects for students, faculty, and staff to help reinforce the mission of the University

    Qualifications

    What Will You Need:

    Required:

    + Personal commitment to God

    + Emotional stability, sound physical health, and an ability to work under stress

    + Effectively relate to persons of diverse religious, educational, and cultural backgrounds

    + Ability to earn respect of all University team members

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

    Master of Divinity degree

     

    Congregational pastoral experience, particularly in youth ministries

     

    Pastoral experience in a Seventh-day Adventist high school or college setting

    LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

    Ordained/licensed minister in good standing with the Seventh-day Adventist Church

     

    Endorsement through Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries of the General Conference of SDA

     

    Board certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains
