Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
We are seeking a Staff Engineer who combines deep technical expertise with a startup mindset and a passion for solving business problems. This role is ideal for someone who can influence stakeholders, lead architectural decisions, and deliver scalable solutions using SaaS, low-code/no-code platforms, and cloud-native technologies.
Key Responsibilities
+ Build for Scale: Contribute to the design and development of scalable, secure, and performant systems that modernize legacy platforms.
+ Platform Enablement: Implement and extend SaaS and low-code/no-code platforms to accelerate delivery and reduce custom development.
+ Collaborative Execution: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver business-aligned solutions.
+ Lean Engineering: Apply rapid prototyping, iterative development, and pragmatic decision-making to drive outcomes.
+ Technical Excellence: Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards.
+ Continuous Learning: Stay current with emerging technologies, especially in Gen AI, cloud-native development, and platform engineering.
+ Mentoring: Mentor the software engineering team to adopt best practices and agile/iterative ways to deliver solutions
Required Qualifications
+ 6+ years of professional software development experience.
+ Hands-on experience with cloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP), serverless, and event-driven design.
+ Familiarity with SaaS platforms, low-code/no-code tools, and Gen AI technologies.
+ Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and deliver high-quality software.
+ Experience modernizing legacy systems or integrating with modern platforms.
+ Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with full-stack (backend, frontend, Cloud, Infrastructure) development.
+ Familiarity with distributed messaging (Kafka, Kinesis) and caching (example - Redis, ElastiCache).
+ Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
+ Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
+ Exposure to startup environments or fast-paced product development cycles.
+ Experience in media, entertainment, or digital platforms is a plus.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
