    The Principal Engineer on the Product Performance team is responsible for building the capability within the global product performance team through development and deployment of new analytic tools, techniques, and processes. This includes developing and documenting standards and processes for product performance analysis and serving as a technical mentor within the global product performance team. The Principal Engineer supports the robust release of new products by participating in the RMM process. The role facilitates the claim review process to support improved customer satisfaction through identification of opportunities, robust problem solving and monitoring of corrective actions for effectiveness. The Principal Engineer also provides product performance reports in support of the regional quality and manufacturing plant quality business objectives. The Principal Engineer is required to collaborate globally and cross functionally and to employ project management tools that deliver solutions consistent with business targets.

    + Identify problems before they occur, propose mitigation solutions. Be a recognized leader in development of new problem-solving strategies. Prioritize objectives and strategies that best deliver to meet business needs.

    + Be a knowledge resource and leader of collaboration. Create an environment and culture of collaboration.

    + Advise others on new tools and methods to solve problems and make decisions.

    + Be a knowledge resource in driving decisions based on facts. Lead team to consider alternatives and rule out unlikely outcomes.

    + Lead implementation. Use skills to address large complex problem solutions. Lead in data analysis.

    + Be a recognized content expert and leader in project management.

    + Be a recognized leader in completing activities and steps of projects. Ensure required steps are taken and all parties included. Lead project teams in developing plans.

    + Be a resource leader in project risk management and the use of process to manage project risk.

    + Be a recognized resource and leader in execution and implementation. Lead project closeout as a strategy leader.

    + Be a knowledge resource and leader in resolving project conflict. Anticipate conflict and develop contingency plans.

    What We’re Looking For:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Science/Technology/Engineering/Math

    + Experience with data analysis, statistical techniques and/or data science, desired

    + 7 or more years’ experience required with 3 or more years of tire manufacturing, tire design and/or tire performance science experience

    + Demonstrated proficiency in systematic problem-solving tools and techniques to address complex equipment and process problems

    + Demonstrated ability to teach and apply new tools and techniques to improve existing processes

    + Cross-functional project leadership/management experience, PMP preferred

    + Ability to teach, coach and mentor others
