Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Senior Emergency Management Specialist through **11/30/2025** at **11:59 p.m.** (Central Time).
Chevron’s Enterprise Emergency Management is designed to provide strategic leadership, forward planning, expert advice, and guidance to Corporate and Asset management worldwide in all areas related to the preparedness and response for oil and chemical releases, fires, natural disasters, global pandemics, and other emergencies with Enterprise impact, including cybersecurity events that affect Chevron’s operations.
This position engages and coordinates through the Asset level EM Advisors to provide implementation of the Chevron Emergency Management (EM) Standard OE Process which includes plans, training, equipment, exercises and responses for Incident Response, Business Continuity and Crisis Management. In addition, this position provides technical consultation to the workforce, project teams and leadership on a wide range of preparedness and response issues spanning the design, construction, operation and decommissioning of Chevron assets. Typical responsibilities include supporting tactical emergency response preparedness across multiple teams; drill and exercise coordination; skill development, training, and proficiency in Incident Management, Business Continuity and Crisis Management as well the Incident Command System (ICS).
The position will be expected to develop relationships with Chevron EM professionals. The position will also be expected to develop a sound understanding of Chevron’s operations in assigned assets, the capabilities and activation procedures for response cooperatives and key response vendors in assigned region, and relevant government and regional emergency response framework(s) and policies.
This position supports IPIECA “Global Initiative program and the Chevron Emergency Response Team.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
+ Develop and maintain local emergency response manuals, processes, standards, procedures, and performance objectives at the asset / region level
+ Understand how to execute responses and use of the ICS; namely decision making, assessing incident potential, organizational structure, situation awareness, communication, leadership, and teamwork
+ Participate as a response team member and be available to activate for emergencies.
+ Counsel local Incident Commanders and other leaders on preparedness and response issues.
+ Provide basic technical coaching on emergency preparedness and response to local operations or other functional groups.
+ Provide technical support to teams during the design or modification of response plans in area of specialty such as firefighting, spill response, hazardous material, and technical rescue.
+ Design, facilitate, execute and evaluate exercises, drills and workshops.
+ Conduct response training to tactical response teams, field operators, staff, and front-line supervisors to include but not limited to basic technical response guidance on the ICS.
+ Gather and report data for performance measures, key performance indicators or metrics on response activities, including tracking of training & exercise records for supported assets and teams.
+ Evaluate equipment condition and requirements using pre-developed checklists, guidelines, and standards (assists in the inspection and testing of equipment and verification of conditions).
+ Identify safeguards during work planning and field engagements and ensure that safeguards are in place and effective at work locations
+ Support risk assessment activities
+ Develop Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) for specific emergency response tasks
+ Participate on local response compliance review teams
+ Partner with Oil Spill Response Organization (OSROs) to ensure effective coordination and support
+ Ensure critical emergency response equipment is enrolled in an applicable Inspection, Testing, and Preventative Maintenance (ITPM) Program that meets manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
+ Review and interpret regulations and industry consensus standards (e.g., American Petroleum Institute (API), NFPA) and provides recommendation to management
+ Assist with and participate on internal and external presentations and workshops (ie industry trade groups, conferences, Community of Practice (CoP), etc.)
+ Represents the Company on regional or national planning committees and on National Exercises
Required Qualifications:
+ Demonstrated effective communication skills with executive leaders and regulators in stressful situations.
+ Experience in Emergency Management (Incident Response, Business Continuity and Crisis Management) with demonstrated understanding of Incident Command System (ICS) fundamentals.
+ Experience in activation and facilitation of events.
+ Strong judgment and ability to escalate or de-escalate matters depending on the nature and circumstances of incident involved.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Emergency Management, Business Continuity and Crisis Management planning including preparedness, response, and recovery strategies.
+ SME in Oil Spill Preparedness and Response
+ Risk Management knowledge as it pertains to Enterprise threats.
+ Government and Corporate Affairs engagement.
+ Diverse corporate and business segment experience
+ Domestic and International experience
