We are looking to hire a CHIEF ESTIMATOR OF MISSION CRITICAL in our Pittsburgh, PA office. The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading the estimating strategy and execution for mission critical projects, driving accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration across all phases of the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Champion our Safety Culture. Set the tone by modeling uncompromising safety practices across every job site and office environment.
+ Own Estimating Lifecycle. Manage all estimating requests for the mission critical business unit including primary budgeting, design assist, target value delivery, schematic design, design development, construction documents, issue for construction, bulletins, and change orders
+ Turn Data into Estimating Strategy. Forge cost models using project data pulled from the ERP system to power tighter budgets and sharper estimates. Leverage data and market insight to set pricing with intent, manage risk with precision, and stay ahead of the competition.
+ Make Every Estimate a Statement. Deliver estimates that contribute to the project narrative. Assist the team in showing clients not only what the project costs, but why our team is the best option to execute it better, faster, and safer with greater transparency.
+ Be a Team Builder. Identify, recruit, develop, and retain top estimating talent. Develop and implement strategies that leverage interdepartmental collaboration and cross-functional teams to accommodate estimating demand during high volume periods.
+ Leverage Real-Time Market Intelligence. Coordinate with the procurement team to stay plugged into industry trends, supplier movements, and cost fluctuations. Anticipate shifts and position the team to strategically employ market data.
+ Support the Sales Effort. Be a key player in the Sargent sales engine. Own a seat in client meetings, bid reviews, and presentations. Align scope, budget, and vision to help win work and deliver profitable growth.
+ Thrive under Pressure. Bring order to ambiguity, streamline complexity, and turn last-minute changes into opportunities for innovation.
+ Drive Continuous Improvement. Build feedback loops from post-project reviews and lessons learned to refine estimating accuracy, reduce waste, and boost margins over time.
+ Engineer a Future with Technology. Push boundaries by integrating cutting-edge estimating tools, digital takeoff software, and tech driven cost models to gain a competitive edge and incorporate into project execution.
+ Assume any additional duties and responsibilities as delegated by Sargent Electrical Management.
Qualifications:
+ Proficient in the use of Accubid Anywhere (preferred), Bluebeam, Project Site, Procore, Plangrid, Building Connected, Navisworks, and other related construction applications.
+ (3) years demonstrated success managing and estimating team bidding projects greater than $50M
+ Minimum (5) years as lead estimator on projects in excess of $25M
+ (5-10) years' experience estimating data center, healthcare, and light industrial projects preferred
+ Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is preferred
+ An Associate's degree with equivalent technical training in a related filed may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree, depending on experience
+ Excellent written communication skills, proficient with computers, particularly Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to type
+ Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a professional manner
+ Works efficiently under tight timeframes, responds to requests in a timely manner, and communicates effectively as a team player
+ Understands the importance of being able to multi-task
Travel Requirements:
+ Minimal travel to project sites, training, trade shows, and conferences
Physical Demands:
+ Ability to sit for long periods of time
+ Must be able to stand, bend, lift and move intermittently
+ Ability to withstand extended exposure to a computer monitor, which may at times be straining on the eyes
+ Ability to carry up to 20 pounds
