• About This Opportunity
Overview
7-Eleven is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead Digital software development teams. The Engineering Manager will work closely with IT and business leaders, understand short and long-term business goals, and collaborate on plans to achieve those goals by delivering leading-edge systems using best-in-class SDLC and a highly motivated team. Deliver the organizational goals aligning with the retail strategy.
Responsibilities
+ Overseeing the overall development life cycle of the software solutions and managing complex projects with significant bottom-line impact
+ Working with team in developing a strategy and road map to provide compelling capabilities for the client community that helps them succeed in their goals.
+ Developing the best technical design and approach for new product development.
+ Instilling best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.
+ Delivering projects according to timelines and scope
+ Managing development projects with proper prioritization, planning of projects and features, Stakeholder management and tracking of external commitments
+ Translating business requirements into technical solutions, recommending alternative technical and business approaches where appropriate
+ Leading engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions within budget.
+ Facilitating technical discussions and drive solutions forward to achieve business needs and ensure alignment to strategic technology vision.
+ Delivering operational excellence; monitoring of production services
+ Helping direct reports grow in their technical skills and career path.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent
+ 10+ years combined working experience in RESTful Service / API Development using server-side technologies.
+ 7+ years of experience as a Developer (preferred experience with Java/JavaScript/C#/Full stack).
+ 3+ years of experience as a technical manager & direct people management experience.
+ 3+ years of experience with Cloud Technologies such as AWS, Azure and GCP.
+ Demonstrate proficiency in Java/JavaScript/TypeScript programming language and Microservices architecture with JRE or Node.js runtime.
+ Extensive experience running medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies, planning implementation and support of business application components, including change & release management.
+ Advanced knowledge of RESTful Services, Middleware Technologies, and Database Design, including experience with both Relational and NoSQL databases (MongoDB)
+ Demonstrated ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all applications within area of responsibility.
+ Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead technical discussions and drive solutions forward to achieve business needs.
+ Demonstrated experience with designing or working with highly available and reliable systems including work on technical design and architecture.
+ Experience with CI/CD automation preferred.
+ Strong experience facilitating issue intervention and driving improvements.
+ Strong skills in risks identification, tracking and planned mitigation.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
+ Working knowledge of Agile Framework.
