Cadence Design Systems Inc. (https://www.cadence.com/) is looking for a motivated, experienced, team-oriented Sr Systems Engineer to be part of our IT R&D Solutions team. Cadence has been nominated as a Great Place to Work globally.
The hired employee will work closely with the Cadence product development teams to provide solutions for our global compute farm that improve the way we build, test, and run Cadence products. Our focus areas include building strong partnerships with R&D, proposing and implementing emerging technologies to improve productivity and maintaining engineering infrastructure
Position Description:
The position involves:
+ Support R&D users in EDA software development and IP designs using our compute resources
+ Manage at least one US based cluster and meet operations SLA
+ Operate and enhance our global compute farm
+ Partner with other IT members to create, deploy, and optimize our farm solutions
+ Work closely with the InfoSec team to build and maintain environments that comply with high secure standards
+ Evaluate new technologies and service offerings that have the potential to improve the experience for the users
The candidate must have:
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or) Engineering or equivalent
+ Experience: Experience working with HPC job scheduling software supporting large scale batch workloads of a technical nature
+ Solid understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems
+ Proficient in Python, shell scripting, or other scripting languages. Experience with C/C++ is a plus
+ SQL based database knowledge
+ Hands on experience with building and/or maintaining automation systems such as Chef, Puppet and Ansible.
+ Knowledge of IBM Spectrum LSF or Slurm
+ Experience with monitoring, logging, and developing solutions that integrate with a compute farm
+ Great problem solving and debugging skills
+ Algorithms and data structure experience
+ Excellent verbal and written communication in English
+ Strong desire to learn more about server farm and EDA software
+ Capable of interacting with technical and functional teams and communicating challenges and risks
Nice to have:
+ Experience with a public cloud provider
+ Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes
+ Knowledge of EDA software
The annual salary range for California is $82,600 to $153,400. You may also be eligible to receive incentive compensation: bonus, equity, and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the salary range is a guideline and compensation may vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
