DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Houston Public Works (FMS — Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)) seeks an Auditor Supervisor (PG-25) to supervise a small team of auditors and lead in-house audit and ERM review activities. The role plans and conducts audits, develops procedures and standards, trains staff on auditing policies, prepares internal audit reports/responses, and coordinates with management to implement audit procedures and objectives. The position may coordinate with external auditors and performs special projects.
KEY DUTIES (Supervisor-level, not Manager-level)
+ Supervise, schedule, and evaluate the work of subordinate auditors; provide guidance and training on auditing/accounting policies, procedures, programs, and systems.
+ Plan and conduct audits of accounts/operations; determine methods, analysis level, and investigative procedures.
+ Develop/adapt/revise auditing procedures and standards to meet department objectives; contribute to ERM/Enterprise Risk Assessment (ERA) reviews and risk register upkeep consistent with internal audit practice.
+ Prepare internal audit reports and responses; research applicable laws, policies, procedures, contracts for assigned audits.
+ Meet with management to prepare/communicate audit procedures and objectives; coordinate with external auditors as needed.
+ Perform special projects and other duties as requested.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field such as Finance, with a minimum of 18 hours in accounting.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Six (6) years of professional accounting/auditing experience are required.

PREFERENCES
PREFERENCES:
+ CPA or CIA certification or any other Accounting/Auditing certification.
+ Auditing and accounting experience
+ ERM/ERA experience
+ Excellent written and verbal communication
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
