Duties Description Join the Division of Court Modernization (DCM)New York State Office of Court AdministrationThe Division of Court Modernization (DCM) is dedicated to making court spaces more functional and accessible through human centered design and innovative technology. Our mission is to ensure that all participants in the justice process—judges, attorneys, jurors, staff, and the public—can fully engage in fair, efficient, and transparent proceedings. We are seeking talented, motivated professionals who are passionate about technology, communication, and public service.Candidates should have experience in areas such as technical training, documentation, audiovisual engineering, IT systems, logistics, or project management.We are currently recruiting for the following roles:• Training, Documentation, and MarketingThis role requires extensive travel and is responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive technical training programs to audiences of varying sizes and technical proficiency. The position involves creating clear and engaginginstructional materials—both written and video-based—as well as documenting complex audiovisual and IT system installations.Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to translate technical concepts into accessible, user-friendly content and possess strong interpersonal skills for effectively engaging diverse groups, including judges, attorneys, and court staff.Flexibility is essential, as training sessions may be conducted both in person and virtually. The role also requires exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to performing quality assurance (QA) testing of courtroom systems following deployment. The ideal candidate will actively gather and analyze user feedback to deliver customization and optimization of courtroom Evidence Presentation Systems (EPS), ensuring seamless integrationand ease of use for all participants.• Deployment, Configuration, and Engineering of Audiovisual SolutionsThis highly technical, hands-on role is responsible for the installation, configuration, and deployment of advanced audiovisual (AV) and information technology (IT) systems across court locations statewide. Key responsibilities include running andterminating audio, video, and network cabling; configuring and testing equipment such as mixers, amplifiers, microphones, speakers, networked cameras, and video distribution systems; and ensuring all components function reliably withinintegrated courtroom environments.The position requires frequent travel to court facilities, the ability to lift up to 30 pounds, climb ladders up to 8 feet, and safely operate basic hand and power tools. Candidates must possess a solid understanding of networking principles, IPconfiguration, and AV signal flow, along with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will take pride in precision, cable management, and the professional presentation of all system installations.• Support Services, System Monitoring, and Research & DevelopmentThis role is responsible for monitoring the performance and reliability of deployed audiovisual (AV) and IT systems, providing technical support, and conducting research on emerging technologies to enhance courtroom functionality. Coreresponsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving support tickets, performing system diagnostics, and maintaining performance dashboards. Candidates should have experience with system administration tools such as Active Directory(AD) and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), as well as familiarity with ticketing and asset management systems.The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, particularly in diagnosing complex audio and video signal flow issues. Some travel to court locations will be required for emergency response, equipment replacement,and minor on-site repairs. Additional responsibilities may include equipment shipping, delivery, and asset tracking to ensure accurate inventory management and continuity of courtroom operations. Minimum Qualifications POSITION TITLE: NETWORK/SYSTEM ENGINEER III JG: 28BASE SALARY: $110,853 + $4,920 LOCATION PAY (NYC ONLY)QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment; or An equivalent combination of education and related technicalexperience in a help desk or technical environment.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK: Network/System Engineers III work independently in units within the Division of Court Modernization. Network/System Engineers III are responsible for overseeing the work of subordinate personnel and for supervising the installation and configuration of network/system architecture in accordance with current standards. They are responsible for oversight of the planning and delivery of multiple technical systems, technology infrastructure and projects. They work with executive and court managers to ensure that all technology needs are met and to assess the performance of subordinate personnel. They ensure technical support for both users and networks/systems is in accordance with established processes and guidelines. Network/System Engineers III are responsible for providing technical management, project plans and status reports for technical projects and initiatives and performing other related duties.POSITION TITLE: NETWORK/SYSTEM ENGINEER II JG: 25BASE SALARY: $94,386 + $4,920 LOCATION PAY (NYC ONLY)QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment; or An equivalent combination of education and related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK: Network/System Engineers II work under supervision in units within the Division of Court Modernization. Network/System Engineers II are responsible for overseeing the work of Network/System Engineers I and help desk personnel and for installing and configuring network/system architecture in accordance with current standards. They are responsible for the planning, delivery and monitoring of multiple technical systems, technology infrastructure and projects. They work with court managers to ensure that all technology needs are met and to assess the performance of help desk personnel. They ensure that help desk personnel provide support in accordance with established processes and guidelines. Network/System Engineers II are responsible for assessing and resolving issues related to network servers, telecommunications systems, courtroom technology, software, and hardware. They also contribute to project planning, generate status reports, and perform other related functions as needed.POSITION TITLE: NETWORK/SYSTEM ENGINEER I JG: 23BASE SALARY: $84,659 + $4,920 LOCATION PAY (NYC ONLY)QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment; or An equivalent combination of education and related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK: Network/System Engineers I work under supervision in units within the Division of Technology. Network/System Engineers I are responsible for resolving the most difficult help desk technical issues and providing technical expertise for help desk personnel. They are responsible for installing network architecture under direction from TechnicalManagers, Network/System Engineers II or Network /System Engineers III. They are responsible for the delivery and monitoring of technology systems and projects. They oversee the work of help desk personnel in order to provide support in accordance with established processes and guidelines. Network/System Engineers I are responsible for ensuring that the installation of networks/systems, telecommunications equipment, courtroom technical equipment, software and hardware are handled in a timely manner and for providing status reports for projects and initiatives and performing other related duties.POSITION TITLE: NETWORK/SYSTEM TECHNICIAN III JG: 21BASE SALARY: $76,112 + $4,920 LOCATION PAY (NYC ONLY)QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment; or An equivalent combination of education and related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK: Network/System Technicians III work under close supervision in the Division of Court Modernization performing second-level troubleshooting support and training to end-users and escalating the most complex problems to Network/Systems Engineers I.
