    Duties Description The duties of this position will include but are not limited to the following:Under the supervision of the Regional Maintenance Supervisor SG18 or designee, the Trades Generalist, SG-12 will be assigned to the Regional Maintenance Crew located at Letchworth State Park and will perform journey-level plumbing and steam fitting tasks within the regional water, wastewater, and plumbing department. Duties will include, but are not limited to: • Repair, maintain, and install various plumbing fixtures and appliances such as sinks, showers, toilets, urinals, drinking fountains, hot water appliances, etc.• Repair, maintain, and install water distribution lines, sewer infrastructure components, and natural gas or propane supply lines.• Repair, maintain, and install HVAC appliances, components, and systems.• Plan and lay out projects, including preparing materials lists and placing orders in compliance with NYS purchasing guidelines.• Execute projects and tasks that require excavation and/or confined space entry.• Assist in the location of underground utility infrastructure.• Assist in the operation and testing of potable water supplies and wastewater treatment systems.• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all assigned hand and power tools to ensure they are in good working order and in compliance with applicable standards.• Maintain daily activity reports, along with other required written records.Although the work of the position is periodically inspected by the Regional Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent is expected to work with considerable independence as is typical of a craftsperson.

     

    Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in the plumbing trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.*If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience.

     

    Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:-Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.-Must have the ability to read and comprehend blueprints and product specifications.-Must obtain Backflow Prevention Device Tester Certification within the probationary period and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.
