Tax Manager | Andover, MA - Hybrid (3 days/week in office)
Salary: $110,000 - $135,000 + 10% STI Bonus | Full benefits, 401k – 4% match, Flex PTO
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for performing various senior tax analyst level tasks related to the tax compliance and reporting of client’s NAM legal entities’ Federal and States income tax returns and provisions, monthly sales and use tax returns and customer inquiries, tax authorities’ audit-ready documentations, tax audits and notices, informational tax reporting, and tax clean-up projects where needed. The position will also work with our business partners and external tax service providers.
Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following (below functions are all essential):
+ Review monthly sales and use tax returns data and perform initial tax returns and payments review.
+ Vertex tax mappings.
+ Client customers inquiries, tax credit memo and refunds documentation.
+ Ongoing automation and alignment with Vertex Staff Aug team for sales tax process improvements
+ Supervise Costa Rica junior tax analyst on NAM tax tasks and provide essential tax trainings.
+ Prepare federal, state, and local income and franchise tax returns accurately and on time. Apply tax exemptions, claims, credits, abatements, and other favorable methods to minimize tax liabilities.
+ Conduct tax research and participate in special projects to implement tax strategies, reduce worldwide taxes, and document/support current tax positions.
+ Assist with Federal and State tax audits and the related tax review tasks.
+ Collaborate with federal, state, and local tax authorities during audits; negotiate favorable settlements and evaluate the potential for further appeal or litigation.
+ Communicate effectively and concisely with Federal and State taxing authorities for risk mitigation.
+ Effectively manage external service providers.
+ Stay up to date on state tax laws and administrative pronouncements to ensure compliance and identify tax savings opportunities.
+ Identify and implement process optimization opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of tax operations.
+ Perform adequate review of client NAM customers and vendors’ W9 and compile/review client’s IRS informational reporting compliance filings such as 1099 and 1042.
+ Converting SAP and BW data into Excel tax supporting workpapers and review of Vertex tax mapping impacts to help minimize potential state tax audit risks.
+ Review annual report filings prepared by Costa Rica analyst.
+ Adequately review historical tax data from various sources and assess tax impacts and make recommendations.
+ Manage master tax data for customers and vendors.
+ Other duties as assigned.

+ Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
+ 8+ years of tax compliance and tax accounting experience, of which 3 years’ tax manager experience
+ 5+ years SAP hands-on experience
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree or equivalent in finance, accounting or related field
+ CPA designation
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office products
+ Ability to multitask and shift priorities based on organization and team needs.
+ Ability to learn and adapt to recent technologies and provide proper guidance to tax analyst
+ Motivated and detailed oriented.
+ Ability to work independently under given direction.
+ Able to self-manage competing priorities and keep projects moving according to timeliness.
+ Communicate concisely and effectively.
+ Collaborate effectively with co-workers and other groups in the organization.
+ Ability to suggest creative solutions to problem solving.
+ Process improvements mindset.
