Join Our Team as a Regional Director of Quality Assurance & Food Safety
As our Regional Director of Quality Assurance & Food Safety, the role provides leadership, direction and management of Quality Assurance and Food Safety to QAFS teams at processing facilities within the Region, following F&S requirements and direction. Assures that these facilities are in compliance with government food safety regulations, Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) requirements and customer requirements. Delivers continuous improvement around Quality and Food Safety. Acts as a subject matter expert in Quality and Food Safety.
All people within the company have responsibilities to ensure that threats to the safety and security of our final product are minimized. For this position, the food safety and food security responsibilities are in the validation and verification of the related company policies. This position will ensure that work is carried out in accordance with company policy.
Requirements
+ Oversees management of the Quality Systems at each location, working directly with plant management teams.
+ Assures facilities are audit ready.
+ Manages QAFS improvement projects and participates in cross-functional team projects.
+ Works with other departments (Sales, PD, etc.) and customers on implementation of new products, product changes/improvements, problem resolution or other items proactively or as needed.
+ Provides guidance in investigations related to customer and consumer product quality and food safety-related questions and complaints. Assures related corrective action plans are developed and implemented as necessary. Works with facilities to reduce customer and consumer complaints.
+ Contributes to regular and ad hoc reports on key Quality and Food Safety metrics. Analyzes data for process improvement opportunities.
+ Research science and technology for ways to improve Quality and Food Safety.
+ Provides coverage of Quality management positions as needed.
+ Manages expenses and looks for opportunities to reduce system cost as appropriate.
+ Collaborates with other QAFS Directors and QA managers to share best practices, improve systems and resolve issues.
+ Assures that any issues are addressed and corrected in a timely manner.
+ Other duties as assigned by management.
+ Travel approximately 25%
+ Oral Communication – Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, management, customers and regulators. Able to simplify complex technical information for general audiences. Capable of creating professional presentations. Successfully influences others to champion and guard food safety and quality in all functional areas.
+ Written Communication – Able to read and interpret written information, including technical information. Proficient at creating/contributing to publishing concise, informative reports, presentations and Quality Systems documents.
+ Organizational Support – Provides support to other departments as related to Quality and Food Safety, such as Sales, Product Development, Product Management, Operations, and Marketing. Follows policies and procedures. Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time. Supports organization's goals and values.
+ Planning/Organizing – Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently. Assures that c manufacturing facilities organize documents and records to be easily retrieved during an audit, inspection, corrective action, or traceback activity.
+ Supervisory – Demonstrated ability to manage and grow direct reports in remote locations.
+ Project Management – Proven ability to manage multiple, often remote, projects and project teams that deliver expected results on-time with full team participation.

Education & Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in food technology, Food Science, Microbiology or other related field
+ 8 years of increasing responsibility in Quality and Food Safety Management
+ Plant/operations experience required
+ HACCP certification(s), Preventive Controls Qualified Individual and auditing experience are pluses
+ Prefer subject matter expertise in RTE foods, microbiology and/or raw protein processing and experience in a USDA FSIS-inspected facility.
Language Skills– Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions. Bi-lingual language skills a plus.
Mathematical Skills– Ability to analyze data using spreadsheets, formulas, statistical tools, etc.
Reasoning Ability– Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Computer Skills– Proficient at Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Project Management– Ability to manage multiple projects and project teams
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations– Current HACCP certification and Preventive Controls Qualified Individual training preferred
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
