    Summary:

    To direct, shoot and edit original assigned long and short form public television video content; single camera electronic field production (EFP), multi-camera studio, or remote programs and productions; tape and file-based workflow and non-linear editing; perform related work.

    Job Responsibilities:

    Director:

    + Directs and coordinates camera operators or self in positioning, movement, and sequence of shots

    + Directs and coordinates sequence and use of video materials through the operation of production switcher or single camera

    + Directs personnel in the program production process

    + Directs and coordinates talent

    + Determines creative style or treatment of file-based material used in a production.

    + Works with producer to determine visual content and format of video productions based on material and purpose of production.

    + Operates professional broadcast-style ENG and Mirrorless cameras

    + Familiar with formats such as HDCam, XDCam and 4K and is very knowledgeable in file-based formats and workflows.

    + Understands video operations and non-linear editing, file transcoding and encoding, video production switcher, character generator, still image manipulation software (such as Photoshop), audio board, studio and field cameras. Has knowledge of studio lighting and production.

    Videographer:

    + Operates EFP field camera equipment

    + Positions video cameras to determine appropriate composition of shots

    + Operates and uses sound and portable lighting equipment

    + Anticipates and visualizes production into final long or short form segment

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Good knowledge of:

    + Various video artistic styles, methodologies and effects.

    Experience:

    + In a professional broadcast environment

    + Operating EFP and professional video camera equipment

    + Organizing and scheduling a TV production team in the studio and remote location

    + Operating sound and portable lighting equipment

    + Operating television switcher Directing live multi-camera studio and remote television productions

    + Directing and videography for single camera field-based productions

    + Working with tape format and file-based video equipment such as HDCam, XDCam and 4KOperating tape and non-linear video equipment

    + Valid Driver's License

     

    MQs Typically gained by: Working three to five years in a television station or video production operation

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Technical problem-solving skills in broadcast environments.

    + Familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro and the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

    + Comfortable in political settings and environments.

    + Familiarity with U.S. West issues, geography, history, politics and culture, as well as Idaho state and local government issues and operations.

    + Familiarity with and experience in adhering to journalistic practices and standards, extending to personal political and social media practices.

    + Ability to work and complete tasks with high quality standards and minimal supervision.

    + Physical ability to walk over trails or rough and steep terrain

    + Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

    + Ability and willingness to travel for assignments

     

    PQs Typically gained by: Working three to five years in a television, radio, print news publication or other journalistic outlet.
