Chaplain
Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community is seeking a Full-Time Chaplain to effectively lead the spiritual affairs of our organization and oversee the pastoral needs of the community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a contagious enthusiasm for our “Call to Excellence” and desire to bring our mission to life for residents and team members:
To provide for the spiritual, physical, emotional and social needs of our residents through high quality facilities, services and personal care in a manner faithful to the Bible and honoring our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Who We Are
QPRC is a non-profit continuing care retirement community founded in 1949 with the conviction that the church has a responsibility before God to provide for aging individuals. Nestled in farm country twenty-five minutes south of Lancaster, PA, the community today includes residential cottages, apartments, personal care, memory care, and skilled care. We have about 320 full and part-time QPRC team members and serve over 450 residents across all levels of care. Our community was and continues to be a testimony to God’s faithfulness and grace as we live with a purpose: the glory of God.
Distinctives of the Chaplain Role
The chaplain position at Quarryville is different from other chaplain roles: it is more relational than clinical chaplains in hospital settings, and it does not require services be held for other religious groups as military chaplains might. In many ways, Quarryville chaplains are like a university campus pastor who ministers to a wide range of worldviews, from committed believers to atheists and everyone in between. Shepherding in this environment requires that the chaplain serve as pastor, apologist, evangelist, and missionary. The chaplain needs to be generous in engagement with individuals, gracious toward all, and appreciative of all true believers and Bible-believing denominations.
