Description We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join our team in Whittier, California. This is a Contract to permanent position tailored for a motivated individual ready to contribute to a dynamic construction and contracting environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for HR functions and the ability to handle diverse responsibilities ranging from timekeeping to employee relations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage timekeeping systems for multiple entities, ensuring accurate certification of hours in collaboration with management and staff.

• Administer company-wide workers' compensation programs, including coordinating accident investigations, reporting claims, and overseeing return-to-work processes.

• Serve as a backup for payroll processing across multiple companies, with training provided.

• Assist with recruitment efforts, benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding, and maintaining HR files.

• Ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements related to workers' compensation and other HR functions.

• Handle employee onboarding processes, including verifying employment eligibility and completing I-9 and E-Verify documentation.

• Support HR compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and regulations.

• Coordinate benefits enrollment and address employee inquiries related to health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.

• Maintain accurate employee records and assist with background checks and other pre-employment screenings.

• Provide assistance with HRIS systems, ensuring data integrity and efficient system use. Requirements • Minimum of three years of experience as an HR generalist or in a similar role.

• Some college coursework completed or equivalent experience demonstrating attention to detail in human resources.

• Proficiency in HR systems such as ADP Workforce Now, as well as knowledge of I-9 compliance, E-Verify, and HR regulations.

• Strong organizational skills with experience in timekeeping management and workers' compensation administration.

• Ability to handle payroll tasks and cross-train in recruitment, benefits, and employee relations.

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

• Reliable commuting ability to Whittier, California, or willingness to relocate prior to starting the role. TalentMatch®
