English Learner/Multilinguistic Tutor
Helena School District # 1 has an opening for a full-time 7 hours per school day English/Multilinguistic tutor. The EL/ML tutor is responsible for providing individualized and group academic assistance to K-8 EL/ML students. This position will also assist in planning, developing, implementing, and coordinating academic support services for students in need. You will work as part of a team of serving 8,000 students and 18 campuses across Helena. Some of what you will do:
+ Follows state and federal regulations for Title III English/multilinguistic learners.
+ Coordinates systems of support with the full-time EL coordinator and the school principals.
+ Work with assigned students to provide academic support and language acquisition.
+ Observes students regularly to re-evaluate needs and support services plan.
+ Supports the EL Coordinator in administering screeners and administering ACCESS for ELLs state assessment.
+ Keeps detailed records of student test scores and academic support plans to track progress and growth.
+ ?Works with parents and families to overcome language and cultural barriers for engagement with the school community.
To become part of this dedicated team, you need:
+ High School diploma or equivalent;
+ At least three (3) months of related experience and/or training;
+ Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.
+ College coursework in foreign language and/or English Learners, preferred but not required.
Essential functions of the position include the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation. Entry level salary range is $17.46 to $19.73 per hour depending on applicable relevant work experience as determined by the District and includes a comprehensive benefit package including paid sick and vacation leave, 3 personal days, 9 Holidays, a health benefit plan, and retirement.
