Summary Statement
Provides on-site oversight and coordination of officials during scheduled basketball games to ensure fair play, safety, and adherence to league rules. This position is responsible for confirming facilities are prepared for use, supporting game-day operations, and maintaining positive communication with officials, players, and staff.
The position is open to all interested persons 16 years of age and older and works up to 19 hours per week. Regular shifts are Monday through Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with employees required to commit to at least two shifts per week. Basketball games are held at Middle Schools and High Schools within the Boise School District, and locations may vary weekly.
Essential Functions
+ Provides oversight of league games to maintain fair play and promote good sportsmanship. Records scores and statistics during games. Coordinates with officials to ensure games begin at scheduled time.
+ Ensures the safety and well-being of all participants which includes checking floors and facilities for any safety issues or concerns. Inspects equipment and supplies to ensure they are in good working order and notifies supervisor when items need repair or replacement.
+ Prepares materials such as score sheets and supplies for games, and assists participants with player roster and pre-game assignments. Performs tear-down duties and ensures all equipment is accounted for.

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
+ Experience playing or coaching sports or experience officiating or supervising league programs.
Knowledge of:
+ Specific league play rules and regulations.
Ability to:
+ Interact with coaches, officials, players, and other participants in a professional and courteous manner
+ Enforce league play rules and regulations
+ Keep score and limited statistics
+ Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations
+ Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
+ Complete assignments in a timely fashion
+ Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations
+ Maintain prompt and regular attendance
+ Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
+ CPR Certified

+ City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is rarely lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds. Also, the employee is rarely pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. The noise level is frequently moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk and hear. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter.
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
