    Sr. Horizontal Milling Machinist – Large Generator Rotors

     

    A Snapshot of Your Day

     

    The skilled technician for horizontal milling prepares and

    runs CNC horizontal boring machines to build different aspects of large

    generator rotor shafts.

    How You’ll Make an Impact

    + Fabricateand bore attributes on substantial electrical generator rotor axles,commonly composed of 50 to 70-ton high alloy steel forgings.

    + Set upand operate one or more of the following machine tools: Ingersoll CNCFloor-Type Horizontal Boring Mill (19.5 meter travel), Giddings &Lewis FTR3500 CNC Floor-Type Horizontal Boring Mill (4 meter travel),Giddings & Lewis FTR5000 CNC Floor-Type Horizontal Boring Mill (14meter travel), and Ingersoll CNC Gantry-Type Multi-Spindle Mill, as wellas various manual drills and mills.

    + Instructand/or mentor employees in the Siemens Energy Apprenticeship Program.

    + Engagein continuous improvement by applying 5S methodology as a component of aLean production system.

    What You Bring

    + A highschool or associate’s degree with 4+ years of manual and CNC millingexperience, preferably using steady rest supports

    + Solidunderstanding of G- and M-codes

    + Abilityto read and interpret sophisticated drawings, specifications, charts, andtables

    + Abilityto use precision measuring instruments

    + Abilityto obtain fork truck and crane license through Siemens Energy internalcertification programs

    + Candidatesare expected to demonstrate the ability to achieve a Silver Level orhigher ACT® WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificate
