Job Description:
Summary:
The Network Support Specialist is responsible for all aspects of voice communications within the enterprise. In addition, this individual will maintain and enhance existing network infrastructure systems, network carriers, circuits throughout the organization. Assignments include installation, problem diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a full range of telecommunications and network equipment. The individual will address availability and reliability issues for voice, data, signal, and connectivity within the local and remote internal IT customer sites. Part of the overall IT Infrastructure team to provide Help Desk support escalations for network and telephony to internal IT customers.
Essential Duties:
+ Primary administration of internal phone systems including user creation and maintenance
+ Monitor circuits, network systems, and applications using systems utilities; interprets console messages from system software or applications program, and performs required actions
+ Evaluate new voice/network communications technology and makes recommendations
+ Experience with network infrastructure installations and migrations to different network fabric
+ Support for Telephony installations, phone and voicemail training, instruction, and call activity reporting
+ Perform installations, upgrades, and testing of new products and/or solutions individually or as part of a team
+ Assists in the administration, maintenance, and operation of the organization's networks and its performance.
+ Performs network asset management tasks as requested including the maintenance of network component inventory and related documentations of technical specifications.
Education & Experience:
+ Two to three years of experience with PBX/VOIP/Networking
+ Previous experience with VOIP solution migrations preferred
+ BS or BA degree in computer science or related technical field desired or corresponding relevant experience in a fast-paced environment.
+ Familiarity with TCP/IP networks and working with network security (firewalls, authentication systems, etc.)
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
+ Ability to analyze problems and provide solutions
+ Must be able to work independently and in groups, take the initiative and can handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
