Job Summary:
Supports and enhances enterprise IT Operations Management (ITOM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) capabilities. Implements, maintains, and improves ServiceNow modules, integrations, and related monitoring tools to ensure accurate visibility of Avnet’s technology landscape. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to maintain CMDB integrity, automate discovery, align asset data with monitoring platforms, and support reliable service delivery across hybrid environments.
Principal Responsibilities:
•Implement and configure ServiceNow ITOM and ITAM solutions, including Discovery, CMDB, Service Mapping, and Asset Management modules.
•Maintain data accuracy and relationships within the CMDB to ensure reliable reporting, event correlation, and service impact analysis.
•Support and administer enterprise monitoring tools, including Azure Monitor, NetOps, OMi, SCOM, and ThousandEyes, ensuring accurate data flow and operational visibility.
•Integrate monitoring systems with ServiceNow to enable automated event creation, correlation, and escalation processes.
•Work with Infrastructure, Network, and Cloud teams to onboard new devices, applications, and services into monitoring platforms and the CMDB.
•Develop and document standards, policies, and procedures for IT asset lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning.
•Implement automation and reconciliation processes between ServiceNow, monitoring tools, and asset data sources.
•Monitor discovery jobs and asset feeds to identify discrepancies, stale data, or incomplete relationships and drive remediation.
•Assist in the creation and maintenance of dashboards and reports for service availability, asset utilization, and compliance tracking.
•Collaborate with application owners, system administrators, and procurement teams to ensure IT assets are properly licensed, maintained, and tracked.
•Support incident, change, and problem management processes by ensuring accurate CI and asset relationships are available for analysis and impact determination.
•Provide technical input for continuous improvement of ITOM, ITAM, and monitoring capabilities and contribute to roadmap development.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Level Specifications:
•Demonstrates in-depth understanding of ITOM, ITAM, and enterprise monitoring principles, including configuration, discovery, and lifecycle management.
•Applies standard methods, techniques, and procedures to moderate-to-complex assignments.
•Exercises independent judgment in analyzing data, resolving issues, and implementing solutions.
•Operates under minimal supervision and collaborates with senior staff or architects for complex integrations and process improvements.
•Work may be reviewed for alignment with strategic objectives or compliance with enterprise standards.
•Interacts regularly with internal stakeholders and vendors; may represent the team on cross-functional initiatives.
Work Experience:
•Typically 5+ years of related IT experience with at least 2+ years focused on ITOM/ITAM systems, ServiceNow configuration, or monitoring platform administration.
Education and Certification(s):
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Preferred certifications include ServiceNow Certified System Administrator, ITOM Implementation Specialist, or IT Asset Management Specialist.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
•Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow Discovery, CMDB, and Asset Management, as well as supporting and maintaining enterprise monitoring tools.
•Partners with the Azure Monitoring Engineer and other IT operations staff to ensure event, performance, and asset data are aligned and actionable.
•Demonstrates accountability for both CMDB integrity and the effectiveness of the monitoring ecosystem.
•Promotes a collaborative environment where monitoring is viewed as a collective responsibility — every team member plays a role in maintaining visibility, data accuracy, and operational excellence.
