    Position Description

    This position Office Support Specialist 2 is located within the Transportation Licensing Commission (TLC) which is responsible for the administration of all laws and ordinances related to the licensing and regulation of vehicles for hire, including but not limited to taxicabs, wreckers, sedans, limousines, horse drawn carriages, scooters and persons or businesses engaged in the practice of booting vehicles in Nashville. Candidates working in this position will be responsible for providing administrative assistance to clients in person and over the telephone on all matters related the licensing process. Performs related duties as required.

     

    The Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure delivers a range of services, and the nearly 400 employees work around the clock to ensure a multimodal system that offers choice and better connects neighborhoods, residents, businesses and visitors to the place that they need and want to go to in a safe manner. These employees are responsible for over 2,200 miles of public roadways and rights-of-way, over 6,000 streets, over 300 bridges, 835 traffic signals and over 1,200 miles of bike/sidewalk lanes and much more. Big events in Nashville consist of CMA Festival, Stanley Cup Finals, Titans games, and any number of special events. These require big preparation and big clean-up and the Nashville Department of Transportation employees are up for the challenge.

    Typical Duties

    + Provides courteous and professional assistance to clients in person and over the telephone.

    + Provides information to clients on TLC rules, policies, and procedures.

    + Receives and processes applications from drivers to operate vehicles for hire.

    + Receives and processes applications from companies providing vehicles for hire or booting services.

    + Conducts an initial review of client applications for compliance with TLC rules, policies, and procedures.

    + Performs research on complex issues concerning the application process.

    + Collects money and prepares deposits.

    + Reconciles daily receipts.

    + Maintains crucial TLC records and disseminates information as required.

    + Performs clerical tasks and data entry as required.

    + Maintains the TLC digital filing system.

    + Monitors and maintains company filings including driver and vehicle lists.

    + Coordinates background check appointments for drivers seeking to operate vehicles for hire.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High School Diploma and five (5) years of increasingly responsible clerical/administrative experience

    *Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience* (1:1 Ratio)

    Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
