Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified candidates for the Student Success Advisor (Full-Time) position in the Division of Student Success and Special Initiatives. This position is located at ATC’s Main Campus, which is just South of Downtown Atlanta.
Under the supervision of the Director of Student Success and Special Initiatives division, the Student Success Advisor (Full-Time) position is highly collaborative and responsible for facilitating intensive, individualized evidence-based interventions and support to foster student accountability and overall success. The Student Success Advisor will assess individual student needs and work with internal cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure students enrolled in high-demand career programs at Atlanta Technical College achieve their maximum educational and vocational potential.
Job duties include, but may not be limited to, the following:
• Advises students on academic requirements, selection of courses and graduation requirements primarily within the Healthcare disciplines
• Performs and interprets degree audits.
• Participate in academic division and departmental meetings to gain a thorough understanding of programs and procedures.
• Collaborates, communicates, and coordinates with internal and external services and programs to foster a holistic approach to student support; refers students to appropriate resources for additional support as needed.
• Meets weekly on an individual or group basis with students to develop targeted educational and career pathways, monitor performance and academic progress, maximize resources and services, and serve as a trusted resource for students to ensure understanding of the academic process.
• Provides ongoing data reports to track course needs and availability.
• Responds appropriately to early alert situations; monitors and documents student academic achievement, persistence, and compliance with plans for success and career placements; and
• Perform additional duties, as assigned.

• Experience supporting and advising diverse student populations with sensitivity to multicultural differences and the needs of underrepresented learners
• Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to convey critical information professionally and supportively
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and engage adult learners
• Proficiency with computers, job-related software, and student information systems
• Skill in developing lesson outlines and instructional materials, presenting subject matter effectively, and evaluating student progress
• Knowledge of the vocational area of assignment
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Enthusiasm for the mission of Atlanta Technical College.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess and demonstrate a Bachelor’s degree in a related field AND Two (2) years of related work experience.
Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess and demonstrate the following:
• Master’s degree in counseling, higher education, social work or related field.
• Three (3) or more years full-time experience as an academic coach, academic or career advisor or other role in student support services in higher education, nonprofit or community services organization.
• Experience with student retention practices and programs as well as knowledge of student development and retention strategies, curriculum standards, instructional strategies, and assessments.
• Advanced computer skills and experience with educational technologies, learning software, and online assessment tools such as BANNER or other student database systems.
• Knowledge of Financial Aid practices in a higher education setting.
• Formal Student Success Advisor training.
