    Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Cost Accountant to join our financial reporting and cost accounting team. This position will be based in our El Segundo, CA offices.

     

    This team member will work closely with all different programs within the AS sector. This requires answering questions and providing status on allocated cost and overheads. Will be responsible for ensuring non labor transfer and accruals are in compliance with policy and processed timely. Typically will require interaction with customers on a daily bases, assisting the programs with research requests or inquires. The Cost Accountant will perform sector labor accounts and types of labor. Which will lead to detailed analysis and reconciliation of labor allocations. At times there may be opportunities to work special projects or special tasks.

     

    Able to apply principles of accounting to analyze general ledger account balances, researching and processing corrections. Candidate must be able to understand the concept of overhead application and able to perform quarterly validations. Responsible for ensuring non labor transfer and food service requests are in compliance with policy and processed timely. Interact with customers on daily bases assisting them with research, inquiries and requests. Able to work special projects as needed.

     

    Responsible for uploading and reviewing Project Master Data requests and ensuring all required data fields are correctly completed and uploaded. The AS sectors Project master data includes Profit centers, Networks and WBS.

    Skills:

    Must be a team player, quick learner and have good written/oral communication skills. Able to prioritize and multi-task, exercise good judgment, flexible and understands the importance of providing quality customer service.

    General Responsibilities:

    + Allocates costs, collects data, and prepares reports that maintain the company's cost accounting system.

    + Ensures that costs are allocated according to established procedures.

    + Gathers historical cost data on such activities as material purchases, labor, equipment depreciation, repairs, assembly, operating expenses, etc.

    + Investigates cost structures for new and existing areas of the company.

    + Prices new services or products by developing unit costs and projecting expenses.

    + Prepares reports that compare budgets with actual expenses.

    + May prepare existing or projected profitability analyses.

    + May recommend, design, or develop revisions to the cost accounting system.

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance with 2 years of related experience in accounting, finance, or similar field; or Master’s Degree in accounting or finance or related field of study.

    + Excellent computer skills, experience in accounting software, Microsoft Excel and Word

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Government Accounting experience

    + Costing Accounting Standards knowledge

    + Familiar with the SAP project System module

    + Familiar with the SAP CO module

    + Experience working with auditors

    + Detailed oriented and self-motivated with abilities to prioritize and meet tight schedules and deadlines

    + Accurate and precise attention to detail

    + Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

    + Leadership experience

     

    Primary Level Salary Range: $67,100.00 - $100,700.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
