    Clinical Services Administrator

    Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

    Current New York State license to practice medicine as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Three (3) years of full-time clinical experience as a medical provider as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant including experience in leadership roles managing projects. Experience utilizing computer-based systems and software, including electronic medical records and billing systems.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Five (5) or more years of full-time clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant including experience in leadership roles managing projects. Experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in an ambulatory setting. Experience working with standard clinical safety and quality assurance protocols. Experience working with process improvements. Experience working with the World Trade Center Health Program and the responder population.

    Brief Descriptions of Duties:

    Reporting to the Director and Deputy Director of Administration, the Clinical Services Administrator is charged with clinical operations of the WTC Health program clinics. They will work directly with the Associate Medical Directors and various managers across the program to optimize and integrate clinical and case management services.

     

    The WTC Health Program at Stony Brook is responsible for providing and managing Program-related healthcare for over 15,000 patients who live and/or work on Long Island and the tri-state area. The program operates 2 large clinics providing a compendium of clinical services, including medical monitoring, nutrition, pharmacy, case management and social work services. The program provides supportive, progressive and intensive case management for its patients who receive treatment services through the program. Research is a central feature of this program with over 90% of its patients participating in research. There are approximately 10 active and ongoing research studies.

     

    The Clinical Services Administrator is key to the success of the overall clinical program. As both a clinician and an administrator, the Clinical Services Administrator meets with key leaders across the organization to ensure high-efficient and quality clinical services, in addition to their role as a WTC provider. The Clinical Services Administrator is responsible for overseeing and directing World Trade Center Health Programs clinic operations in multiple locations, while maintaining a high level of quality service and compliance with required procedures, rules, policies and applicable legal requirements. The incumbent will provide the Director and Deputy Director with insights on staffing and management of the clinics. The incumbent must be a strong leader with a high level of organization, executive decision-making, and communication skills. The incumbent must be analytical, collaborative, independent and able to balance multiple projects while attending to patients. This clinical/administrative position requires approximately 80% direct patient care and 20% administration duties.

    Duties:

    Clinic – Direct Patient Care:

    + Conduct monitoring examinations for the WTC Monitoring Program patients under the supervision of the Associate Medical Director or designee.

    + Provide treatment to WTC Program patients for WTC covered conditions including but not limited to aero digestive diseases and psychological and social problems. Actively participate in our Collaborative Care Model of healthcare delivery.

    + Make referrals as appropriate to other healthcare providers and/or consult with physicians for further definitive therapy.

    + Perform necessary administrative duties associated with the WTC program including but not limited to completing final letters, Worker’s Compensation, SSI (supplemental security income), LODI (line of duty injury), attorney- requested forms, letters, as well as certification for WTC-related illnesses, which is required of member services.

    + Work with Cerner electronic medical records system for all patient charting documentation.

    + Maintain ongoing communication with physicians, social workers, nurses and other staff relative to select aspects of patient care or administrative issues.

    Administration:

    + Oversee clinical operations at two clinics. Work closely with Medical Directors to oversee clinical staff to include providers, nurses, medical assistants, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers and case managers. Supervise, counsel, and guide staff. Perform administrative tasks such as approving timesheets and organizing vacation schedules.

    + Oversee the case management program.

    + Ensure quality and productivity metrics are met for all teams.

    + Lead workshops, meetings, trainings. Effect change where needed. Improve communication and collaboration among clinical areas.

    + Monitor the delivery of services to patients at each location ensuring compliance with all aspects of patient care in accordance with Stony Brook, WTCHP and NIOSH policies and procedures. Ensure that clinic staff are properly trained in program requirements and clinical requirements.

    + Work collaboratively with supervisors in all areas to integrate the clinical services to meet overall Program requirements and deliverables, especially regarding Quality Assurance, Case Management and Member Services.

    + Interview, recommend for hire, and train new clinic staff. Provide guidance to Nurse Manager on clinical staff performance. Oversee and provide support, guidance, and coaching to clinical team and team leaders/supervisors.

    **Other duties** as assigned.

    Special Notes:

    The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

     

    The incumbent must be willing to work and travel between the Westbury and Commack clinic locations. Occasional Evenings and Saturdays will be required.
