    The position is at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Health Disparities Research Department (HDR) of the Division of Cancer Prevention & Population Sciences in Houston, TX. Under the mentorship of Dr. Margaret Raber, the intern will engage in cutting-edge research aimed at understanding and addressing health disparities in cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship. The intern will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary research team and will contribute to various aspects of the research process, including but not limited to data collection and analysis, community engagement, regular team meetings on and off campus.

     

    All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

     

    *LEARNING OBJECTIVES*

     

    Attend cancer prevention grand rounds, lectures, and departmental brown bag sessions to deepen understanding of cancer health disparities. These sessions will help prepare the trainee for participation in larger professional meetings by modeling appropriate conduct and engagement.

     

    Participate in weekly progress meetings, which may include team discussions or one-on-one check-ins with a manager or mentor.

     

    Join weekly team meetings to gain insight into ongoing research studies. Trainees will actively engage in data collection, participant recruitment, and data entry tasks. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of accurate research data collection, with hands-on training provided to ensure proper techniques are learned and applied.

     

    *ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS*

     

    Applicant must hold a bachelor's or master's degree.

    Degree must have been obtained recently (within one year)

    This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening.
