Job Description
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Graduate Enrollment, Student Services & Financial Aid, the Assistant Director ensures delivery of student support services, student formation programming, and maintenance of student records to all CSON graduate students. They serve as the primary point of contact for all graduate students enrolled in CSON programs. This position is responsible for ensuring that graduate students are actively involved in their self-discovery and personal formation, while also addressing academic and developmental needs, including advising, academic support, and various administrative duties that include the student Newsletter, updating graduate student handbook and catalog annually, along with completing forms and letters of verification for students etc.
The Assistant Director will coordinate a variety of inclusive and holistic formation activities and programs and is responsible for implementing a comprehensive assessment plan for all formative programs. This position will respond to notifications regarding graduate student concerns from faculty and CSON partners. This position offers support services and resource referrals for students to various partners across campus and will triage with the Assistant Dean for more serious cases. The position acts as a liaison to the University Student Services Office and collaborates with Career Services and Alumni Affairs particularly in relation to career and alumni engagement focused programming. This role has several event management responsibilities including planning and management of all graduate student orientations, class/cohort meetings, serving as the key event administrator for Commencement (organizing graduate hooding, pinning, and diploma ceremony), and advising the Graduate Nurses Association- guiding their planning of large-scale events (e.g. awards dinner/ ceremony). Attendance at occasional evening or weekend functions is required. This position supports the Assistant and Associate Deans of Students in CSON with other various administrative responsibilities to ensure student success.
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and full-time equivalent hiring ranges:
- Assistant Director: $65,550 - $81,950; 5+ years related experience
- Assistant Director: $59,400 - $74,250; 1-3 years experience
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Master's degree in Higher Education administration or college development highly preferred.
- Excellent computer skills (Excel, FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Word, Power Point)
- Strong quantitative skills
- Solid understanding of technology and familiarity with BC systems is preferred (Eagle Apps)
- Excellent organizational skills, writing and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrable problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with others under pressure in order to meet deadlines
- Provides excellent customer service; demonstrates maturity, respect for others and confidence in leading and facilitating in a work place setting
- Ability to maintain data security and confidentiality of all data at all times
