About the role
As a (GCP) Data Engineer, you will make an impact you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of quality across our operations. You will be a valued member of the Manufacturing & Logistics team and work collaboratively in team and work collaboratively with a dynamic and inclusive team within the environment at Cognizant.
In this role, you will:
• Design and implement scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using GCP tools like Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Run.
• Build and maintain data models, warehouses, and lakes to support analytics and reporting.
• Optimize BigQuery performance and cost through query tuning, partitioning, and clustering.
• Ensure data security and compliance via IAM roles, encryption, and network controls.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality, governed data solutions and automate deployments with CI/CD.
Work model:

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in New Jersey - NJ. What you need to have to be considered:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years of hands-on expertise in GCP services including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, Dataflow, Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, Cloud Balancer, Pub/Sub, IAM, Logging, and Monitoring.
• Proficient in SQL, Python, and Linux scripting, with prior experience using ETL tools such as Datastage, Informatica, and SSIS.
• Skilled in data modeling (star/snowflake), data warehouse architecture, and cloud-native analytics.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, Git version control, and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Demonstrates strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and effective communication in agile, fast-paced environments.
• GCP Professional Data Engineer or Cloud Architect certification is a plus.
Salary and Other Compensation:
• Applications will be accepted until November 30, 2025.
• The annual salary for this position is between $130,000 - $150,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
• This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
