This charming house with a whimsical name evokes a simpler time in Miami’s history. Built in 1891, The Barnacle house museum offers a glimpse of frontier life during the Era of the Bay, when all travel to and from the region was by sea.

Situated on the shore of Biscayne Bay, The Barnacle was the home of Ralph Middleton Munroe, one of the Coconut Grove community’s most interesting and influential pioneers.

The Barnacle Historic State Park appears much as it did during Munroe’s occupancy (1886-1933). Significant cultural and natural resources include three historic houses, traditional sailboats, landscaped grounds, a small tropical hardwood hammock, and submerged lands. The Barnacle is a great place to enjoy history, tranquility, scenic vistas, and special events throughout the year.
