Overview
Position is responsible for: Managing design, estimating, and customer contracts resources, business processes, and budgeting for Electric and Gas Distribution Operations. Ensuring design and customer interfacing business processes align with internal goals and objectives of Customer Service, Construction, Supply Chain, and Accounting. Ensuring all personnel are adequately trained and qualified to perform design services work, and that all designs satisfy applicable regulations and Company standards. Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with key external customers, such as builders, developers, electricians, and the end customer. Supporting Electric Distribution Operations emergency preparedness and response roles as assigned.

Responsibilities
•Manages the activities of the electric and gas design personnel.
•Demonstrates a strong and visible commitment to safety of employees through support and participation with site safety teams, corporate safety initiatives, safety tailgates and continuous reinforcement of safe working practices in compliance with corporate safety policies, OHSA and KOHSA regulations and other related state and federal regulatory agencies.
•Develops direct reports by providing career coaching and developmental opportunities; ensures supervision provides development opportunities for employees and addresses employee performance.
•Establishes and manages O&M and Local Engineering budgets for Design personnel and administrative needs; establishes and manages Capital budgets for all expenses associated with third party attachments.
•Ensures proper reviews are made on all design layouts, and accuracy of detailed estimates for construction of overhead and underground electric and gas projects.
•Directs design personnel to ensure conformity to current engineering practices, codes, and standards.
•Ensures the timing of designs and customer contracts satisfy business plan objectives, customer expectations, and Construction resource scheduling.
•Ensures effective and timely communication between the design group and operational units (status of design projects, estimated completion dates, cost estimates, material requirements, etc.) to assist the operational departments in meeting the customers and business needs.
•Responsible for the oversight of gas and electric customer contribution contracts, special agreements and other more complex service inquires in accordance with Company guidelines.
•Manages the customer experience, with the Design group as the customer point of contact, on all electric and gas distribution construction projects; works in harmony with the call centers and business centers to provide streamlined customer services.
•Fosters relationships with land developers and other business communities.
•Ensures design personnel have appropriate technology, equipment and training to perform damage assessment during significant storm restoration events.
•Provides leadership and support in significant storm restoration efforts. Exercises blue, yellow and risk checklist activities for the role(s) assigned.
•Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Education
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or business.
Required Experience
+ 10+ yearsexperience in design, construction, maintenance and operations, with a minimum of 5 years managing and leading people.
+ Extensive knowledge of electric and gas utility business.

+ This position requires constant interdepartmental and customer interaction.
