Serves as the Prison Enterprises Regional Manager for agricultural operations at Dixon Correctional Institute and Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. Responsible for managing the overall planning, coordination, and supervision of the listed agricultural operations.
This position offers a mix of hands-on experience and strategic oversight with contribution to a vital industry.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the supervisory level or above:
Four years of experience in administrative services or agricultural operations or in a correctional or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation or classification of offenders plus one of the following:
1. Six years of full-time experience in any field; or
2. A bachelor's degree.
OR
A master's degree in an agricultural science, veterinary science, or a business-related field plus three years of experience in administrative services, industrial management or farm management or in a correctional or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation or classification of offenders.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Directs and oversees agricultural operations through subordinate supervisors to insure all operate productively and profitably. Confers with the appropriate Wardens or institutional representatives regarding inmate assignments, transfers, and security. Additionally, confers and informs the PE Agriculture Manager on reports, preventative maintenance programs, new products, new processes and expansions of existing agriculture operations.
+ Work for (support):Prison Enterprises is an ancillary “Enterprise Fund”, operating entirely on a self-generated revenue with a staff of approximately 66, operating over 30 individual cost centers at 7 correctional facilities across this State, along with a Headquarters location in Baton Rouge. Prison Enterprises has approximately 2,027 in livestock assets spread across 5 agriculture operations.

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
+ Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
+ An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
+ This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOTthe amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
