    $62,350-$65,000 annually plus great benefits!

     

    Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Camper Engagement and Day Camp is responsible for leading all efforts related to camper recruitment, enrollment, and retention for YMCA Camp Cory, while also providing comprehensive leadership for the summer Day Camp Program. This year-round role is the primary driver of camp growth, executing strategies to engage new families and foster lasting relationships with legacy families to ensure their continuous participation through social media, in-person events, and strong marketing strategies. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Develop and lead all camper recruitment strategies, focusing on year-round engagement, enrollment, and retention efforts.

    • Supervise summer Day Camp Program, ensuring a high-quality, safe, and positive experience for all participants.

    • Assist in the hiring, training, and development of the summer staff team, focusing on cultivating the skills necessary for program delivery and camper support. Support onboarding staff where necessary.

    • Provide support to ensure all program areas are ready for incoming campers, rental groups, and programs.

    • Responsible for accuracy, relevance, and continued development of social media presence.

    • Collaborate with Operations Manager in utilizing camper data for superior customer service and as a camper and staff marketing tool.

    • Assist Executive Director with department budget development and management.

    • Collaborate with Camp Ranger to ensure facility is safe and staff understand facility priorities: Cleanliness, Presentation, and Detail.

    • Assist in ensuring that all program operations are consistent with Association, DOH, and/or ACA procedures, including maintenance, emergency, accident, purchasing, personnel, and accounting systems.

    • Attend monthly meetings with Camp Cory Board of Management and serve as staff representative on assigned committees.

    • Attend all required training and meetings. Support total Association events as designated.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in recreation, physical education or related field preferred.

    • Must have at least two years working at a camp.

    • At least three years’ experience in a supervisory role with skills in recruiting, training and staff management.

    • Experience recruiting and engaging program participants required.

    • Possess knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in directing daily activities.

    • Must be self-motivated, hands-on team leader with strong communications, networking and collaboration skills.

    • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    • Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills.

    • Demonstrated success in driving revenue and managing expenses.

    • Must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within 60 days.

    • Must be willing to work the following schedule:

    o Winter months will include a Tuesday through Sunday schedule, focusing on weekend events at YMCA Branches and elsewhere

    o Live at camp during spring and summer seasons

    o Fall Schedule to be determined by rental schedule, but will focus on enrollment startup for next summer season

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to sit and stand for extended duration of shift.

    • Must be able to bend and stoop frequently.

    • Must be able to lift up to forty pounds.

    • Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather).

    • Ability to move around camp property.

    • Ability to always supervise children by sight and sound.

    • Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. aggressive behavior).

    Salary Description

    $62,350-$65,000 annually
