We have an outstanding Contract position for a Senior F5 Engineer.This position is100% remotewith 50% travel toSan Francisco, CA.
Pay Rate: $75- $90/hr
US Citizenship is required.
Candidate must possess an Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with CI Poly or higher.
This role will focus on delivering high availability, scalability, and security for mission-critical applications across on-premises data centers and hybrid cloud infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in F5 BIG-IP platforms (LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM, APM), strong automation experience, and the ability to lead complex migration and modernization projects.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Design, implement, and optimize F5 BIG-IP configurations, including LTM, GTM/DNS, APM, and ASM modules across production and development environments.
+ Support application delivery for enterprise services, engineering systems, and manufacturing platforms with a focus on scalability, resilience, and security.
+ Develop and maintain iRules and iApps to enable custom application delivery logic and integrations.
+ Automate configuration management using tools like Ansible, Python, or Terraform to ensure consistency and compliance across environments.
+ Collaborate with security teams to enforce policies, manage SSL certificates, and integrate F5 with identity and access management systems (Okta, Azure AD, etc.).
+ Troubleshoot complex Layer 4–7 traffic flows and application issues using F5 utilities, packet captures, and logging tools.
+ Integrate F5 solutions with public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) as part of Intel's hybrid infrastructure strategy.
+ Perform lifecycle management of F5 devices, including firmware upgrades, patching, and hardware refreshes.
+ Document architectures, runbooks, and operational standards for global support teams.
+ Provide mentorship to junior network and application delivery engineers, sharing best practices and guiding on automation and security initiatives.
Basic Hiring Criteria:
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
+ 8+ years of hands-on experience managing and engineering F5 BIG-IP systems in large enterprise environments.
+ Deep expertise in F5 modules: LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM, and APM.
+ Strong scripting and automation skills with Python, Bash, or Ansible.
+ Advanced understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, SSL, SNAT, routing, VLANs).
+ Experience integrating F5 with cloud-based application delivery or proxy solutions (e.g., Azure Front Door, AWS ALB/NLB, Cloudflare).
+ Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-layer traffic issues.
+ Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to work in a global, cross-functional environment.
Desired Qualifications:
+ F5 Certified Technology Specialist (LTM, ASM, APM, or GTM).
+ Experience with Zero Trust network design and API gateway integration.
+ Familiarity with Kubernetes ingress controllers, NGINX+, or other ADC technologies.
+ Experience supporting manufacturing or engineering workloads in a high-availability environment.
+ Prior experience in a Fortune 500 or semiconductor enterprise is a plus.
