About this Unit:
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in the care suites unit? If so, then this might just be the position for you! Our Care Suites include Pre-Post Cath Lab and Radiology/ Imaging and other cardiovascular patients. Will perform comprehensive nursing assessments on interventional and diagnostic patients included under the radiology/cardiovascular care umbrella. Pre and Post procedure care responsibilities encompass a wide range of radiology diagnostic and interventional procedures including, but not limited to heart caths, PTCR, arterial angiograms, electrophysiology studies, and a wide range of radiologic diagnostic and interventional procedures. Nursing responsibilities also include monitoring patients receiving sedation in a variety of settings. Primary population is adults with some pediatrics.
Schedule** **: This position will be working .5 FTE (40 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on evenings (11am-7:30pm) with weekends as needed.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
Responsibilities
+ Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
+ Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
+ Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
+ Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
+ Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
+ Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
+ Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
+ Provides care to cardiac, interventional radiology and general radiology patients; both inpatient and outpatient populations.
+ Performs blood transfusions and numerous outpatient IV infusions.
+ Performs pre-procedure prep and post-procedure care.
+ Provides moderate sedation and intra-procedure care.
+ Simultaneously manages multiple patients
+ Develops customized education for discharge plan and aftercare.
+ Shares information and updates with patient family members during the procedure process.
+ Manages orders including accurate transcription of faxed orders, therapy and treatment plans.
+ Ensures patient consents for procedures are filled out fully and accurately.
+ Prioritizes interventions based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences and needs.
+ Documents and updates the plan of care to assure continuity throughout the continuum of care
+ Implements nursing interventions based on the plan of care.
+ Coordinates nursing care with the care of all other health team members.
+ Delegates direct and indirect patient care activities to appropriate personnel based on needs, condition, potential for risk/harm, complexity of the skill and predictability of the outcome.
+ Uses the full range of therapeutic modalities to support and augment the healing process, moving from least intensive and invasive to more, depending on need and context.
+ Documents interventions according to practice guidelines.
+ Anticipates, recognizes and responds to emergent situations.
+ Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations

Required Qualifications:
+ Active MN RN License
+ Basic Life Support (BLS)
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
+ 1 year of RN Critical Care experience
+ 1 year of pre/post procedural experience
Preferred qualifications:
+ BSN
+ Providing moderate sedation
+ Experience with Post Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) Sheath removal
