    Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Police Staff may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on various situations. Day shift is: Mon - Thurs or Thurs - Sun 0530-1800, Night shift: Mon -Thurs or Thurs - Sun, 1730-0600. All shifts are 4 shifts per week 12.5 hours per shift. Shifts rotate every 4 months. Responsibilities Monitors Security Communications Systems such as Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV); Intrusion Detection's System (IDS); and telephone/radio systems. Recommends to the supervisor and director, changes in the organization of work or assignment of functions in order to improve work flow and service coverage, promote job satisfactions, and increase productivity. Serves as police officer on installation with conventional ammunition, supply and maintenance mission, and general supply mission. Patrols assigned areas on depot to detect, apprehend, arrest or cite offenders of federal or state laws or violation of a regulation. Conducts security patrols in industrial and storage areas to enforce security regulations, plans, and policies. Dispatches police, fire and emergency units to scenes of crimes, accidents and natural disasters. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Conditions of Employment Continued: This position has been designated "Mission Essential" and subject to 24-hour recall. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. Must be trained and physically capable of doing crisis management operations including terrorist driven events, hostage situations, barricaded suspects, high risk persons security details, anti-sniper actions, natural or man-made disasters and other stressful and dangerous situations. This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position. Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals. Incumbent must wear uniform and maintain high state of appearance and hygiene (Local SOP and IAW AR 190-56). Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience at the GS-06 level: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) responding to emergency situations or security breaches that requires police services; and 2) Responding to emergency or non-emergency calls for police services. (GS-05) Specialized Experience at the GS-07 level: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) responding to emergency situations or security breaches that requires police services; 2) Responding to emergency or non-emergency calls for police services; and 3) Conducting criminal and traffic investigations to determine course of action. (GS-06) The OPM Qualification Standard states experience must have provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
