Description
Overview
The Workday Financial Systems Analyst will be accountable for the assessment, implementation, business partnership, and ongoing production support for Workday’s finance modules. The person will be responsible for understanding The New York Public Library's business needs and recommending Workday best practices.
We are looking for someone we can count on to:
**Own** :
+ The creation and maintenance of standard and custom ad-hoc reports and dashboards to meet business needs
+ Integrations between Workday and external systems using Enterprise Integration Builder (EIB) and other Workday tools
+ The generation of Financial test scripts for each Workday release
**Teach** :
+ The Financial Team about new Workday features
+ New and existing staff on using Workday
Learn:
+ How NYPL uses the Finance modules
+ How to navigate through Workday Community to understand new modules
+ Workday tools via training classes
+ Kainos Smart Tool
+ Workday Adaptive Planning
**Improve** :
+ The library’s current Workday processes
+ How to best leverage Workday to automate processes
Some expectations for this role are that within:
**1 month** , this person will:
+ Become familiar with how NYPL uses Workday across all financial teams
+ Build custom reports for Financial users
**3 months** , this person will:
+ Build advanced reports (Matrix, Composite) for Financial Users
+ Understand the Financial business definitions, including approval steps
+ Be able to troubleshoot issues with current processes
+ Build a relationship with all the functional team leads
+ Assist in the implementation of the Adaptive Planning module
**6 months and beyond** , this person will:
+ Build complex integrations (EIB, Studio)
+ Become familiar with Workday Orchestrate (newest Workday integration tool)
+ Become familiar with all the AI capabilities within Workday
+ Full understanding of the process flow for all the different functional areas and how they interact with each other
Responsibilities
+ Monitor the system for problems and identify and implement corrective and preventive measures
+ Understand the overall finance/accounting/procurement setup of Workday, including overall functional usage of Workday
+ Perform Workday administrative functions, including business process report writing, and tenant configuration. Monitor and troubleshoot integrations and BPs supporting finance processes, determine root cause, and implement solutions
+ Understand Workday security, including adjusting domains and security groups. Maintain the roles (for all business functional areas) related to security groups; this includes working with functional areas to assign and change roles depending on job function
+ Engage in the Workday release preparation, including monitoring Workday Community for new release functionality. Coordinating with impacted business units to make required configuration/content/reporting/integration changes
+ Leverage business knowledge and expertise to identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements, advise stakeholders on options, risks, and any impacts on other processes or systems
+ Evaluate, communicate, and coordinate the technical impacts of Workday configuration decisions
+ Design, configure, and test simple integrations between Workday and external systems using Enterprise Integration Builder (EIB) and other Workday tools
+ Create, maintain, and process standard and custom ad-hoc reports and dashboards to meet business needs
+ Performs other related duties, as necessary
Required Education, Experience & Skills
Required Education & CertificationsR
+ Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
Required Experience
+ 3+ years of Workday Finance administration, report writing and/or configuration experience required
+ Advanced experience in Workday configuration in three or more of the following areas: Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable, Banking, Procurement, Budgets, Payroll
+ Experience with finance business processes and security, and how to best leverage Workday to automate processes
+ Project experience with gathering requirements, architecting system configuration, leading testing, and implementation
Required Skills
+ Knowledge about Workday business objects, modules, and process flows, Adaptive Planning and/or Time Tracking preferred
+ Ability to work through complex issues and challenges and present business stakeholders with clear options for solving
