Together, we can help people build stronger communities — we're just getting started.Towards this mission, the Reality Labs (RL) team is helping people around the world to come together and connect through world-class AR/VR hardware and software. We are seeking exceptional Research Interns to join the RL XR People team and create a revolution in VR/AR: achieving true photorealistic telepresence. XR People is an organization focused on productizing novel human understanding technologies on VR/AR devices (for example we shipped face and body tracking technologies on Quest Pro). Through understanding of human appearance, movement and expression, the XR People team enables immersive new experiences that bring people closer together and enhance the way we interact with each other and computers.Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Required Skills:
Research Scientist Intern, Human Understanding (PhD) Responsibilities:
1. Solve real problems in enabling Photorealistic Telepresence.
2. Develop and execute on an R&D agenda related to computer vision, computer graphics or machine learning.
3. Push the state of the art research from recent top conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, SIGGRAPH, NeurIPS, ICLR, PAMI, IJCV).
4. Collaborate and support other researchers across various disciplines.

5. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering in the field of Computer Science, Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, or related field
6. 2+ years experience with building systems based on Computer Graphics, Computer Vision or Machine Learning methods
7. 3+ years experience in C++ and Python.-Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
8. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

9. Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, SIGGRAPH, NeurIPS, ICLR, PAMI, IJCV)
10. Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
11. Intent to return to a degree-program after the completion of the internship
12. Proven track record in tracking and modeling of humans (eyes, face, hands, body, ...) and garments
13. Proven track record in human motion and animation (body/face/hands/eyes)
14. Proven track record in action and gesture recognition
15. Proven track record in 3D reconstruction, non-rigid fusion, and volumetric capture
16. Proven track record in ML based data compression techniques
17. Proven track record in Semi-supervised learning, self-supervised learning, or domain adaptation
Public Compensation:
$7,650/month to $12,134/month + benefits
