Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! Responsibilities Reports directly to the Recreation Specialist Supervisor (Supervisory Fitness Specialist) NF4, this position is responsible for conducting operations at the Fitness Centers, satellite facilities, and other assigned facilities and programs within the local command during the established operational hours. Major responsibilities include the overall operations of the program, including security and safety of the facilities and all fixed assets. May be responsible for scheduling work assignments of employees, defining quality standards of service, training and development, and overall cognizance of daily operation of facilities. Responsible for managing staff at the fitness facility during operational hours. Duties include, responsibility of the issuance and accountability of equipment, proper use of weights and cardiovascular equipment, preventative maintenance measures, cleaning of facilities, supervision of patrons in organized and self-directed fitness activities, and miscellaneous administrative tasks such as initiating and following through on actions to correct equipment and facility problems. Reviews supplies and equipment inventories to ensure it meets program and facility requirements, prepares requisitions for replenishments, completes and files workers¿ compensation reports, conducts safety checks, checks completion of mandatory training, approves work and leave time entries, hand les customer issues. Plans, organizes, and conducts a physical fitness program that provides conditioning programs for authorized patrons. Instructs individuals and groups in the proper implementation and maintenance of conditioning and training programs for aerobic fitness, muscular fitness, body composition, and flexibility training. May be required to conduct fitness assessments in accordance with established industry standards. Works with various command representatives in developing and implementing physical fitness programs for military personnel. Responsible for cash handling, balancing registers, and consolidates daily financial reports. Due to the nature of work in this position, the incumbent may serve in an ¿on call¿ duty status outside of normal work hours that includes: remaining in a reasonable call back radius, carrying a cell phone or pager, or regularly checking email to respond to emergencies; remaining in a state of readiness to perform work with limitations on pursuing outside leisure activities, and/or reporting to a designated post of duty to be ready to or to perform work. Instructs patrons in the proper use of all equipment for training, preparing written instruction and procedures for the performance of work, use of equipment, safety and well being of all involved. May train/lead other employees in various recreation/physical fitness-related positions. Registers students, collects fees, maintains attendance and appropriate accounting records. Ensure all safety measures are observed. Provides MCCS World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Must be able to adjust work schedule based on programming with the Semper Fit department and other operational needs. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications A minimum of three years experience in planning, organizing, and administering a physical fitness program. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required and must be obtained within six months after initial employment. Must have current personal trainer certification or must be obtained within six months after initial employment from one of the following approved national organizations: American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Council on Exercise (ACE), Cooper Institute for Aerobic Research or National Strength and Condition Association. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
