Your Opportunity
Stantec’s thriving Great Lakes Environmental Services and the Brownfield Revitalization team is looking for a Geologist/Environmental Engineer to join us. Our team is growing and we have a need for a Geologist/Environmental Engineer with at least 5 years of relevant experience in the environmental field and a strong interest in environmental assessment/cleanup, community revitalization, and Brownfield redevelopment. This team member will be primarily focused on due diligence and Brownfield revitalization work in Wisconsin but may assist with other out-of-state opportunities within our regional and/or national Environmental Services team. Well-qualified candidates will have experience/familiarity with Wisconsin environmental regulations and implementing environmental due diligence, assessment, and remediation projects, especially as that relates to State and Federal grant funded projects. Strong writing and communication skills are critical, as is an understanding of effective field procedures and protocols related to this work. This position is based in our Green Bay, Wisconsin office.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation of Brownfield and/or property redevelopment projects both in the field and office. Periodic travel/field work (some may be out-of-state) may be required for the purpose of leading field crews, performing environmental monitoring or site reconnaissance, or off-site meetings with clients, landowners, and/or regulatory agencies.
- Prepare project deliverables including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, Work Plans, Sampling and Analysis Plans, Site Investigation reports, and Remedial Action Planning documents, in whole or in part, depending on the size and complexity of the document
- Participate in workplan preparation, including development of conceptual site models
- Participate in proposal preparation (work scope, task-level budgeting, cost estimates, and schedule development); may perform calculations, gather or review information, or prepare standard sections of proposals
- Analysis and interpretation of environmental data
- Coordinate subcontractors (such as analytical laboratories, private utility locators, geophysical contractors environmental drillers, and excavation and disposal contractors) in addition to performing office assignments
- Assist with preparing grant applications to fund environmental projects for redevelopment
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Sound application of established practices, standards and regulatory guidelines
- Self-starting, team-oriented problem solver
- Strong research, analytical, and technical writing skills
- Proficient in policies and procedures related to health and safety and application of these policies and procedures as appropriate to their work
- Able to communicate technical information with clients, landowners, government regulators and agencies, as well as non-technical communication to the public
- Able to build strong relationships with key clients with respect to their technical area and the broader business objectives in their regions
- Able to build and maintain productive professional and personal networking relationships
- Able to effectively manage and lead tasks or projects both in the field and office
- Safe driving record and valid driver’s license required
Education and Experience
At least five years of experience in the environmental consulting field with an educational background that includes a Bachelor’s degree or higher in geology, environmental science, engineering, or related field. Professional licensure (i.e. P.G. and/or P.E.) strongly desired. 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required.
