Summary of the Job:
This role provides high-level operational, compliance, and workflow support to the Fixed Income Trading Desk. The position ensures the integrity of trading processes, enhances desk efficiency, and promotes adherence to internal controls and regulatory standards. The individual in this role acts as a central coordination point between Trading, Operations, Compliance, Sales, and counterparties.
About This Role:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Trading Desk & Operational Support
Support new issue workflows, including DTCC eligibility, closing coordination, funds movement, and closing call facilitation. Oversee daily trade flow processes to ensure timely and accurate trade capture, comparison, and settlement. Resolve trade breaks, discrepancies, and settlement issues in coordination with operations, counterparties, and clearing firms. Serve as the primary trading desk liaison to operations for process alignment and escalation handling. Serve as subject matter expert on fixed income trade support operations and lead testing and implementation of enhancements to trading platforms and systems as it relates to trade support functions.
Compliance & Risk Controls
Develop, maintain, and enhance operational procedures, manuals, and process documentation to support a strong control environment. In partnership with the Head of Trading, ensure compliance with FINRA, MSRB, SEC, and firm trading policies across the desk. Partner with the Head of the Trading Desk, Sales Supervision Manager and Compliance to monitor trade activity, exception reporting, and surveillance reviews Assist in FINRA TRACE and MSRB regulatory trade reporting, proactively monitor report cards, identify and remediate trade, operational or system issues. Develop, maintain, and enhance operational desk procedures, and process documentation to support a strong control environment. Remain aware of changing compliance and regulatory standards. Maintain proper and accurate books and records and ensure that all comply with regulations and policies.
Leadership & Communication
Prepare management-level reporting and summaries to support desk supervision and decision-making. Facilitate communication between traders, sales producers, operations, and compliance to resolve issues and streamline processes. Participate in workflow improvement initiatives, technology upgrades, and desk efficiency projects. Serve as a resource and mentor to junior operations/trading support staff.
The Ideal Candidate for This Role:
Possesses outstanding organization skills, works efficiently and accurately, is detail oriented, and has the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Demonstrate a proactive, self-starting ethos, with a penchant for cultivating professional relationships. Possess comprehensive regulatory knowledge or the ability to learn regulatory and company policies and procedures. Technology proficiency, especially with Bloomberg, Microsoft Word and Excel, and other fixed income sales and trading related systems. Strong relationship-building skills and professional communication style. Comfort navigating ambiguity and adapting in a dynamic environment with time-sensitive tasks.
IV. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experieince
• Financial services industry experience, preferably in fixed income
• Series SIE, 7 and 63 required. Series 24 and 53 preferred.
• Organizational skills and writing proficiency
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
