    Department: VP for External Affairs

    Position Summary:

    Fellows must be members of a defined Priority Population and residents of New York’s 14th Congressional District. The Climate Community Engagement Fellow reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for Community Affairs and supports the development and daily operations of the future Bronx Green Jobs Center. The Fellow will ensure the smooth functioning of all front-facing and administrative activities. This 15-month grant-funded position is made possible through the Climate Justice Fellowship Plus Program and is contingent upon continued grant funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority ( NYSERDA ).

     

    The Climate Community Engagement Fellow serves as the primary administrative and front-line support for the office, ensuring efficient daily operations and a welcoming environment for students, staff, and external partners. The Fellow will actively support outreach, and community engagement efforts across the city.

     

    This position is funded through the Climate Justice Fellowship Plus Program, administered by NYSERDA , and is contingent upon continued grant funding.

     

    The incumbent will manage communications and scheduling, and assist in administrative and event logistics to ensure that all operational and reporting functions comply with institutional

     

    requirements. The role requires a high degree of professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to advancing the goals of climate justice, workforce development, and community

     

    empowerment.

    Essential Functions:

    Serves as the primary point of contact for visitors, partners, and program participants—providing courteous and efficient communication and front desk coverage.

     

    Participates in community engagement efforts and outreach activities aligned with the program’s clean energy and climate justice goals.

     

    Serves as front-line communication and administrative support for the BGJC .

     

    Builds and maintains sustainable relationships with students, recruiting partners, instructors, and community partners by providing excellent customer service.

     

    Supports administrative operations, including correspondence, scheduling, data entry, and recordkeeping, as well as assists with the office budget.

     

    Supports the BGJC team in all strategic and operational functions.

     

    Manages the on-campus visitor experience by greeting, assisting, and accommodating visitors on campus, ensuring that all their needs are met.

     

    Coordinates scheduling and room reservations for staff meetings and other staff development needs.

     

    Arranges check-ins at employer and student events to track accurate participant attendance.

     

    Posts events and shares with local communities.

     

    Reviews and approves requests from employers for access to and job postings on the career management tool.

     

    Coordinates the utilization of Bronx Green Jobs Center office space by other partners when requested.

     

    Manages administrative tasks, including purchasing and replenishing supplies, snacks, and career fair orders.

    Required Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent.

     

    Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in office administration, customer service, or related field.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience with community-based organizations and/or the Bronx/ NYC context.

     

    Knowledge of green industries, sustainability, or workforce training programs.

     

    Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

     

    Minimum Salary: $30/Hour

     

    Maximum Salary: $30/Hour
