As a **Director, Data Engineering & Data Product Strategy** , you will be an experienced and dynamic leader responsible for shaping the strategic evolution of our finance data on Google Cloud Platform. This includes defining both the tactical implementation and the forward-looking vision for our financial data landscape. This pivotal role will be integral to our strategic imperatives, architecting and forging a comprehensive data product strategy that transforms raw financial data into trusted, accessible, and AI-ready assets.
You will lead a team of data engineers, partnering with data architects, to develop and deliver robust data products that align directly with our finance product strategy. You will also create strategic roadmaps to foster a strong data-driven culture across Ford Motor Company, GDIA, and Finance. This work will require an individual skilled at negotiation, prioritization and collaboratively working with finance leadership to create a data product roadmap, while managing data engineers to create solutions that accelerate AI adoption to unlock enterprise value.
Based in Dearborn, MI, this is a hybrid position with a required four-day onsite presence each week
What you'll do...
Strategic Data Product Leadership:
+ Articulate a clear vision and roadmap for Finance data products, unified with our enterprise data strategy and financial objectives.
+ Champion the concept of "data as a product" within Finance, ensuring data assets are discoverable, addressable, trustworthy, and securely accessible to internal consumers, including AI/ML teams.
+ Collaborate closely with Finance stakeholders, data scientists, and business leaders to understand critical data needs, define data product requirements, and establish clear SLAs.
Advanced Data Engineering & Architecture:
+ Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable, high-performance data pipelines (ETL/ELT) on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), utilizing services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Composer.
+ Oversee the implementation of robust data models tailored for complex financial data products, reporting, analysis, forecasting, and regulatory compliance (e.g., SOX, GAAP/IFRS).
+ Ensure the reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of data solutions, leveraging GCP's managed services and best practices.
Data Governance, Quality & Compliance:
+ Institute rigorous data governance frameworks for Finance data, data products, ensuring federated computational governance that adheres to enterprise standards, privacy regulations, and security protocols.
+ Mandate and implement automated data quality checks, monitoring, and remediation processes to maintain the integrity and trustworthiness of all financial data products.
+ Partner with legal and compliance teams to ensure all data practices meet stringent industry and regulatory requirements.
+ Team Leadership & Development:
+ Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of data engineers and data product owners, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation.
+ Drive best practices in data engineering, data/ai/mlops readiness and agile methodologies within the team.
+ Manage resource allocation, project timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful execution of data initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Innovation:
+ Empower cross-functional collaboration between Finance, IT, AI/ML teams, and other business units to leverage integrated datasets for advanced analytics and AI applications.
+ Actively explore and introduce innovative data technologies and methodologies, including synthetic data generation where appropriate, to solve complex financial challenges and accelerate AI adoption.
You'll have...
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
+ 8+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, data architecture, or data product management roles.
+ 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management capacity, overseeing data-focused teams supporting finance
+ 3+ years of deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services (e.g., BigQuery, Data flow, Cloud Storage, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Composer) with other skills including:
+ Proven experience in designing and building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehousing solutions supporting finance, accounting, FP&A, Treasury and/or Risk
+ Strong understanding of financial data domains, accounting principles, and financial reporting processes within a large enterprise.
+ Demonstrated experience with data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.
+ Proficiency in SQL and at least one of the following programming languages Python and/or Java
+ Demonstrated experience crafting finance specific data strategy – what data finance needs, why finance needs the data and how it will be leverage to meet strategic financial objectives.
+ Demonstrated Experience Developing and Managing Data Product Roadmaps and Deliverables
+ Demonstrated collaboration experience in stakeholder engagement, management and communication. The incumbent will need to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical finance professionals and translate financial requirements into clear technical vision via Sagas for engineers and delivery teams.
+ Demonstrated experience defining and monitoring and measuring impact of finance data products. For example, leveraging continuous monitoring performance, user feedback, usage patterns and measuring the financial impact to plan and inform future finance roadmap

+ Master's degree in Finance, Computer Science or related field
+ Experience in automotive manufacturing supporting Finance.
+ Practical experience implementing Data Hub/Mesh principles or similar decentralized data architectures.
+ Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their application in finance (e.g., forecasting, fraud detection, risk modeling).
+ Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker)
