    Introduction

     

    Your role and responsibilities

    Software Development Manager, IBM Corporation, San Jose, CA (Up to 40% telecommuting permitted):

    * Develop and design virtualization management software to manage complex virtualized infrastructure for industry-leading suite of products, as well as manage and lead the engineering effort within the team.

    * Work with the technical leadership to shape the technical direction of the virtualization and cloud modules.

    * Work with customers, product management, software engineers, and others to design systems and frameworks, to define technical capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.

    * Manage and lead the engineering effort of developing management software in public cloud virtualization technologies.

    * Lead a team of Software Engineers, and Architects.

    * Develop, test, modify and enhance prototype solutions for expansion of product offerings and applications.

    * Design and create abstractions representing virtual infrastructure and manage to ensure efficiency and technical performance of software applications.

    * Provide technical leadership in the design and code quality associated with deliverables and manage the day-to-day project related technical activities of the team.

    * Design and implement components for use in enterprise environment and across multiple projects.

    * Meet with other managers to collaborate internally, negotiate the right trade-offs, solicit cooperation and resolve problems, and advance new technical products.

    * Utilize: AWS (Amazon web services), Microsoft Azure and GCP (Google Cloud Platform), VMWare VCenter, Netapp Storage, Pure Storage, Kubernetes, Java, Git, Agile.

     

    Required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) and one (1) year of experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineering Manager or related. One (1) year of experience must include utilizing AWS (Amazon web services), Microsoft Azure and GCP (Google Cloud Platform), VMWare VCenter, Netapp Storage, Pure Storage, Kubernetes, Java, Git, Agile. $388918 to $438000 per year.     Required technical and professional expertise
