Your role and responsibilities
IBM seeks an experienced Staff Technical Program Manager who thrives on fast-paced change to implement core compliance initiatives and more across various products in a scalable and highly consistent way. This is an influential role that requires a high level of competence and experience to drive executive level progress. This role will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams across our products and regions, within the growing Software business of IBM. As part of the Operations team, you'll improve and execute on the strategy and operations within the Automation pillar.
The ideal candidate will drive complex programs and initiatives requiring cross functional collaboration across multiple disciplines. You will work collaboratively to develop and execute on detailed program plans, tracking milestones, resolving risks and blockers, and driving decisions including to ensure program and business goals are met or exceeded. The ideal candidate will have a strong appreciation for process scaling, excel with ambiguity, thrive in a dynamic environment, be a strong self-starter, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
Our R&D team, as well as the other cross-functional teams you'll work with, are largely remote and many are working in other geos such as the U.S., Canada, and Europe. While prior experience working remotely isn't required, we are looking for team members who perform well given a high level of independence. Excellent, clear, and regular communication are required to be successful in this role.
In this role, you can expect to take on these responsibilities:

Manage the collaboration between engineering, product, design, and other functions by identifying priorities, defining cross-functional milestones, and following through on plans

Leverage your experience and knowledge to influence technical choices, provide innovative ideas, and guide teams on an optimal approach

Work closely with leadership teams to drive the execution of strategic initiatives, proactively identifying risks & mitigation plans to drive success
*
Work collaboratively with other program managers across the org to support new processes, updates to ways of working, and to reinforce effective approaches to scale our operation globally

Work with relevant stakeholder groups to identify delivery schedules, dependencies, drive alignment, and expedite ongoing progress
*
Own effective project documentation, reporting, dashboards and communication between project stakeholders to ensure overall program health
*
Contribute to an environment that's conducive to great execution
Required technical and professional expertise
*
Solid experience in an engineering or compliance program management role driving projects through a full product development life cycle
*
Direct prior experience with platform, compliance, and automation-related products
*
Ability to perceive challenges and independently develop and propose potential solutions
*
Excellent verbal & written communication skills, understanding of the needs of all stakeholders, and a track record of delivering projects

Ability to help leaders identify and resolve ambiguity in goal planning and work management
*
Proven partnership with cross-departmental stakeholders in Engineering, Product, IT, or other technical organizations
*
Experience in rapid growth of an organization, working cross-functionally with teams delivering enterprise-grade software
*
Ability to track, prioritize, and proactively communicate on multiple simultaneous priorities
*
Strong bias for action and an intrinsic ability to deal with ambiguity
Preferred technical and professional experience
