Job Summary and Qualifications
•Responsible for the daily operation of activities within the unit.
•Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing and managing personnel resources in a cost effective and productive manner for the operational area of the unit.
•Responsible interviewing, selection, retention, manages the departmental staff, takes disciplinary action and terminations of department employees in conjunction with the Director and Human Resources when needed.
•Develop and prepare staff and self, educationally for change and improvement within the department.
•Provides input to the director regarding space/equipment recommendations, budgetary needs, and other resources needed by the department.
•Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterilization technique, instruments and supplies needed for all surgical cases.
•Prepares instrument, supplies, equipment for sterilization, storage/distribution.
•Prepares surgical sets, instruments, treatment trays according to prescribed procedures.
•Inventories equipment used and records charges daily.
•Responsible for Autoclaves/Records maintenance.
•Demonstrates customer service behavior.
•Communicates, interacts and participates in teamwork on the unit.
•Participates and cooperates in the unit-based performance improvement process.
•Maintains and practices quality care through effective use of resources and personnel.
•Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
•Patient and family advocate with respect to the patient’s right to privacy by protecting confidential information
•Supervise and participate in the evaluation process of employees within the unit.
•May have access to the POS room or designated areas to stock/inventory crash carts of non-scheduled drugs and biologicals to include but not limited to fluids, sterile water, normal saline, and irrigations.
•Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
•Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
•Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
What qualifications you will need:
+ (CSPDT) Cert Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician, or (CRCST) Certified Registered Central Service Technician, or High School Graduate / GED, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
