Job Summary and Qualifications

•​Responsible for the daily operation of activities within the unit.​

•​Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing and managing personnel resources in a cost effective and productive manner for the operational area of the unit.​

•​Responsible interviewing, selection, retention, manages the departmental staff, takes disciplinary action and terminations of department employees in conjunction with the Director and Human Resources when needed.​

•​Develop and prepare staff and self, educationally for change and improvement within the department.​

•​Provides input to the director regarding space/equipment recommendations, budgetary needs, and other resources needed by the department.​

•​Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterilization technique, instruments and supplies needed for all surgical cases.​

•​Prepares instrument, supplies, equipment for sterilization, storage/distribution.​

•​Prepares surgical sets, instruments, treatment trays according to prescribed procedures.​

•​Inventories equipment used and records charges daily.​

•​Responsible for Autoclaves/Records maintenance.​

•​Demonstrates customer service behavior.​

•​Communicates, interacts and participates in teamwork on the unit.​

•​Participates and cooperates in the unit-based performance improvement process.​

•​Maintains and practices quality care through effective use of resources and personnel.​

•​Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.​

•​Patient and family advocate with respect to the patient’s right to privacy by protecting confidential information​

•​Supervise and participate in the evaluation process of employees within the unit.​

•​May have access to the POS room or designated areas to stock/inventory crash carts of non-scheduled drugs and biologicals to include but not limited to fluids, sterile water, normal saline, and irrigations.​

•​Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered. ​

•​Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.​

•​Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.​

What qualifications you will need:

+ (CSPDT) Cert Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician, or (CRCST) Certified Registered Central Service Technician, or High School Graduate / GED, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
