Position Purpose:

The Surgical Scheduler is an ancillary nursing team member who functions under the direct guidance of the Charge Nurse and Director/ Manager of Surgical Services and Manager of Perioperative Services.

What the Surgical Scheduler ​ Will Do:

+ Computer data entry activities including daily, monthly and yearly stats concerning all aspects of surgical procedures

+ Ordering and checking in of all office supplies in the Surgical Services Department

+ Building of the daily Surgical Services employee call schedule

+ Scheduling of all procedures to be done in Surgery, Endoscopy, Outpatient, Infusion Clinic and Preadmission Testing

+ Open and active communication with the surgery managers for coordination of block time scheduling and staffing needs

+ Communicate and coordinate with surgeons’ schedulers and pre-registration

+ Interact with Inventory Coordinator for needed special equipment

+ The Scheduler works directly with other hospital departments, ordering equipment, tests and needed maintenance along with coordinating patient needs

+ Works directly with other hospitals and doctor offices obtaining accurate patient information to be entered into the computer to build a daily schedule

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Minimum: Current High School Diploma or GED.

+ Preferred: CNA or MA preferred

+ Related Experience Preferred: CNA or MA experience
