    ELMET is seeking a Chemical Cleaning Operator, Mon - Fri 7am - 3pm  This position is based in Lewiston Maine.

     

    Pay Range:  $19.50 - $21.50 per hour.

     

    Benefits start on day one!

     

    Full Time, Year-round position.

     

    Quarterly Production Bonus

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    + Eligible to work in the US - Must meet ITAR Requirements.

    + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

    + Stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time

    + Read and write English is a must.

    + Must be able to pass a General Skills exam.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Operator cleans sheet, wire or rod products by means of hot caustic, water soak and wash to specification provided.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Picks up all material and delivered by chemical operator or other personnel as directed by the supervisor

    + Places sheet, rod, plates, wire or parts in handling rack, immerses rack in caustic bath (KOH & NaNO2) and removes it from bath

    + Transports product to water tank, flushes it with water and it is washed in water bath

    + Removes product to drying table, wipes product with alcohol and wipes product dry

    + When necessary will scrape caustic pots, refill all pots, refill acid baths, and maintain water baths

    + Makes incoming material to ensure that is within specification and will clean as required to confirm to customer and/or process specification

    + Keeps work area neat and orderly

    + Follows all company safety policies and procedures and reports all accidents, hazards and equipment problems

    + Performs other duties as required

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

    + Knowledge of and ability to perform basic math functions

    + Ability to use basic hand measuring tools

    + Basic computer proficiency, including documentation data entry and report generation

    + Good oral and written communication skills

    WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    + Must be able to lift and maneuver up to fifty (50) pounds

    + Routinely operates/uses equipment, machines, and tools requiring hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity

    + Routinely communicates face-to-face

    + Routinely performs duties in production floor environment

    + Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees including bending, twisting, pulling and stopping

    + Must be able to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time or for an entire work shift on concrete floors

    + Must be able to wear protective gear
