Job Description:
This coordinator is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the RISE with WiSE summer experience for high school juniors and seniors. The person in this role will collaborate with campus and corporate partners to design high-quality STEM learning experiences, develop community-building activities for participants, and oversee the work of undergraduate students who serve as StEMS (camp counselors). The position is approximately 10 hours a week from January to May and August, then 40 hours a week from June to July.
The incumbent must be available to work extended hours and reside in the residence halls from July 12th through the 16th, and from July 20th to 24th, during the residential summer camps.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Collaborate and meet regularly with campus and corporate partners to design, practice, and deliver high-quality, age-appropriate, engaging STEM sessions in science and mathematics.
+ Co-supervise and manage undergraduate students who serve as camp counselors (StEMs), including training, developing schedules and expectations, and ensuring appropriate and satisfactory performance.
+ Stay in the residence hall with participants during camp programming and respond to any emergency situations that may arise
+ Ensure the safety and well-being of student participants during their campus stay.
+ Collaborate with the WiSE Outreach Programs Manager and other WiSE staff to coordinate camp logistics.
+ Collaborate to:
+ To ensure frequent and sufficient student/parent communication.
+ Create an overall program schedule for the camp.
+ To plan community-building activities for students to engage in (movie night, empowerment night, etc.)
+ Coordinate resource fair participation and celebration ceremony program.
+ Interview and hire 5 STEMs
+ Coordinate corporate partner participation and engagement
